Whether it’s for you or the family, I want you to know about Target video game deals. There’s no lack of competition from other retailers like Walmart, Kohl’s, and GameStop, which makes it all the more important to know how Target stacks up.

Thanks to price matching, RedCard, and a trade-in program, there are a few opportunities to save on Target video games.

Download the official KCL app to get notification on all the major sales.

1. Take advantage of Target price match for cheaper video games.

Target price matches competitors like Walmart, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Amazon, and GameStop. When you see a deal on a console or game at any of those stores, just bring proof of the lower price to a Target associate at checkout and they’ll match it.

Keep in mind this doesn’t extend to Kohl’s Cash, just the lower price. Additionally, Target doesn’t price match the competition during major sales like Black Friday.

2. Stack Target RedCard savings with video game sales.

One of the best ways to save cash on Target video games is to sign up for a Target RedCard. In addition to 2-day shipping, you get 5% off your purchases at Target and Target.com.

You can combine these savings with Target video game sales as well. Check out these savings on PlayStation 4 games:

Super Mario Party video game at Target

For March 10, retailers had big sales on Mario games, which don’t usually go on sale. With the extra RedCard savings, this turned out to be a better deal than Amazon’s Mario Day game sales. Check out this deal they offered for Mario Day in 2021:

Buy 1 Super Mario Party for Nintendo Switch (reg. $59.99) $38.99, sale price
Use RedCard or 5% off
Use RedCard for free shipping or free shipping on orders of $35+
Or free store pickup or “Drive Up”

5. Trade in your old video games for Target gift cards.

If you’ve got old games and consoles collecting dust, take advantage of the Target Tech Trade-In Program. You’ll get Target gift cards (that you can use on new video games) for trading in video game hardware and software, as well as phones, tablets, speakers, and wearables.

For example, you can trade in your old Xbox One for a $71.61 gift card which you can put towards the new Xbox Series X.

6. Target has sales on Xbox Series X controllers for Cyber Monday.
