Most of us have used Evite to send or receive invitations at one time or another, but you may not be aware that they also provide an app so you can send those invites on the go! With the Evite app, you can create and send invitations, manage guests lists and RSVP to events. You can even set it to notify you immediately when a guest replies to your invitation. One of the best features of Evite is the wide variety of designs and options, from general invitations to seasonal ones. If you find yourself waiting at the doctor’s office or in the school pick-up line, you can whip out your phone and get one of your party planning tasks done in no time! Evite is free and is available on iTunes and Google Play.
4. Hello Vino
Wine is a staple at most holiday parties, but if you’re anything like myself, you’re probably pretty clueless on how to choose a good one. Instead of wandering aimlessly up and down the wine aisle, check out Hello Vino. This free app, available for iPhone and Android, takes the guesswork out of choosing wines by offering recommendations to the beginner wine consumer. Hello Vino offers recommendations for which wines to pair with foods such as pizzas, meats, cheeses and much more. You can also get selections based on the occasion, personal taste, and you can even view the most popular picks. In addition to throwing parties, this is also a great app to keep handy for those times when you need to grab a bottle of wine for a quick hostess gift!
When planning a party, choosing the menu can be one of the most difficult and time-consuming aspects. This year, get a little help from the Epicurious app! This Conde Nast publication for foodies has put together a free app that allows you to search over 30,000 recipes based on skill and theme, create shopping lists from the recipes you choose, and even follow step by step cooking instructions in the kitchen. With a quick search, I found recipes such as Bruleed Bourbon-Maple Pumpkin Pie, Turkey Samosas, and Old School Garlic Bread. My favorite section of the Epicurious app? The "I can barely cook" category, which certainly sums up my skill set! The Epicurious app is available for iPhone, Android and Windows devices and is free to download.
6. Christmas Radio
No holiday party would be complete without a little holiday music to get your guests into the spirit! However, most people don’t have a wide collection of festive tunes. Instead of shelling out big bucks to download music that you’ll probably only use a few times, get music for your party for free from the Christmas Radio app! Christmas Radio allows users to listen to music from over 50 stations that include everything from country music and rockin’ Christmas hits to classic standards and holiday jazz. If you have kids at the party, tune into the North Pole Radio, which broadcasts directly from the North Pole so kids can keep track of what Santa is up to. Christmas Radio is free and is available for iPhone and Android.
