Candy Corn Sugar Cookie Bars

1 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
orange and yellow food coloring


4 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup butter
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a 9 x13 pan with foil and spray with baking spray. Mix butter and sugar for 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract and continue to mix. Add salt, baking soda and flour. Mix again and then split the dough in half. Color half of the dough yellow and the other half orange. Layer the orange dough first into the pan by spreading it out with a spoon or your hands.  Now layer the yellow dough on top of the orange dough making sure to press down evenly until the pan is covered. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until top is a very light brown. Make the frosting by mixing the butter for two minutes, and then slowly add in the powdered sugar. Combine with vanilla extract and milk until smooth. Let the bars cool and then spread frosting on top and cut into triangles.
