Have kids at home? Then you know how important date night is. But dinner, movies and babysitters are EXPENSIVE — am I right?!

Luckily, there are ways to make those date-night costs more affordable.

On February 21st, The Krazy Coupon Lady appeared on The Doctors TV show to share KCL’s best budget date night tips. If you missed it, you can watch Joanie here and read her tips below. Check it out!

1. Save 30-35% on movie tickets and concessions with Deal Flicks.

88% is the average number of seats that sit empty at the movie theater during a showing. Deal Flicks helps theaters sell their excess inventory of tickets — especially for lower-performing showtimes — and help customers save money.

Start by entering your location at DealFlicks.com. Next, select a movie from a participating theater. Then browse available showtimes and view offers. The most common are bundle offers for popcorn and a movie, but often you’ll find a steeper discount on matinees and weeknight showtimes.

Keep in mind that new blockbusters may appear in Deal Flicks, but often with lower discounts than less popular movies.

2. Get free babysitting with Sitting Around.

Babysitting co-ops are point-based systems that allow groups of parents to swap babysitting in a way that’s fair and equitable. SittingAround.com is a site that connects parents and helps you set up the infrastructure for the group.

Every time you provide childcare for another co-op member, you receive points. Each co-op sets its own rules for how points are calculated, typically based on the number of children and the number of hours. Co-ops often award additional points for things like sitting late at night (or early in the morning) or serving meals during a sit.

On SittingAround.com, start by entering your zip code to find a co-op near you and request to join. Each group will have its own rules about how one qualifies. Some groups are closed to individuals that don’t already know someone in the group. If you find that to be the case, consider gathering friends and starting your own group!

Sitting Around charges a $15 annual fee, but if you want to DIY, you can also create a private Facebook group and use the Internet to find ideas for tracking points.

3. Earn money by taking surveys and use the rewards to pay for date night.

Spend 20 minutes per day taking surveys, and save the money you earned for date night. Taking surveys on market-research survey sites is far from a get-rich-quick scheme. But they’re pretty brainless and easy to complete while multitasking.

SurveyJunkie.com is my favorite. They’re pretty easy to use, and they don’t flood your inbox. Even so, I would still recommend starting a free new email before you sign up for surveys.

Each survey has a time estimate and number of points you’ll earn visible before you start. Each point is worth a penny, and most surveys pay the equivalent of 70-90 cents. Once you earn 1,000 points, you can cash out for $10 via PayPal or receive an electronic gift card.

Another option, if surveys don’t sound like your jam, is Bing rewards. Bing is a search engine owned by Microsoft. Join Bing rewards and swap your google search engine for Bing. You’ll passively earn points every time you search, which can be redeemed for gift cards. Switching your search engine alone could pay for 3-4 date nights per year!
