Hereās everything you need to make a DIY diaper wreath.
While some of the supplies needed may vary based on the momās preferences, for the most part you can create this wreath using these items in any brand. We suggest doing a quick scan of the baby registry and checking off some of the baby essentials. You can create a theme for the wreath, like bath time with towels and washcloths, or keep it general with a few necessities.
Wire or foam wreath form.
Look for something around 14 inches in diameter. If youāre going to use larger-size diapers, make this as large as a 28-inch wreath. The larger the wreath, the more supplies you can attach for the new parents!
Diapers in any size.
You can use any brand or size. Youāll need about 30 newborn diapers for this 14-inch wreath and fewer diapers if you use a larger size on the same wreath form. If you get a larger wreath form, youāll definitely need more diapers to cover every inch.
Ribbons or string.
Youāll use ribbons or string to secure the diapers to the wreath form. You can find baby-themed ribbon or colorful string at Dollar Tree for a really affordable price.
Clear elastic hair bands.
You can use clear hair bands ($4.82, Amazon) to secure items to the wreath and also create the decorative bow and rose shapes out of bibs and socks. Use clear bands so that you canāt see them. If you can only find black elastics or other colors, you can cover them with extra ribbon or string.
Any baby items from the registry.
Next, youāll need baby essentials to decorate and attach to the diaper wreath. Here are some of our favorites:
- Burp cloths
- Socks
- Bibs
- Pacifiers
- Blankets
- Stuffed animals
- Mini bath supplies
- Baby care kits

Create the wreath using diapers and clear elastic bands.
Place the diapers around the wreath form and secure them with elastic bands to make it easy to adjust and perfect the shape. Push the diapers tight together, layering them slightly to cover the entire wreath form. Once you have the desired look, add ribbons, twine, or string, and bows to cover the elastic bands for a clean and decorative look.
Tip: Remember to wash hands before you start to keep the diapers clean for baby to use.

Make decorative bows with bibs and burp cloths.
Next, youāll make bows out of the bibs and burp cloths. Start by folding the burp cloths to create a rectangular shape. Then lightly fold the fabric into thirds. Add two elastic bands toward the middle and fan out the edges to make a bow. Add ribbon to tie it to the diaper wreath.

Create sock roses to decorate the DIY diaper wreath.
Now you can start to decorate the wreath with little baby sock roses (seriously, those socks are so tiny). First, fold the baby sock in half lengthwise. Next, roll from middle to outside. Add elastic bands to the middle to hold the rose shape in place. Cluster the socks in groups of three or make single roses with each sock. Take an additional sock or baby washcloth, fold it in half, and add elastic to the middle to create a leaf. Finally, attach them all together with a ribbon or an elastic band and add the wreath!
Shop baby socks.
Determine the placement for the rest of the baby supplies.
Place the remaining baby items around the wreath before securing anything to get the right overall look. Adjust all of the baby items as needed to make the wreath look full and decorative.

Tie everything on, but do not glue.
Once youāre happy with the placement of all the baby gifts, tie everything down. Use ribbons, rubber bands, elastic ties, or twine to secure it all into place around the wreath. Donāt use glue because you want the mama to actually be able to use these items!
Tip: You can use tape where the ribbon meets the baby item before tying a bow to help secure it. Tape is much easier to remove than glue.
