How to sign up
Head on over to the Book It website to enroll your child in the Book It Summer Break Reading Challenge. The sign-up process is super easy and only takes a few seconds. Kids who were enrolled in kindergarten through 6th grade are eligible to participate.
How to participate
Have your child read five books by August 15, 2014. The best part is that your child can read any books that she wants! My daughter is currently in love with Nancy Drew books. Want to find some free fun titles? Check out your local library. Just click here to find the library nearest you.
You'll also have to sign up for the Instagram Scavenger Hunt in order to qualify for prizes. But don't worry–the Instagram Scavenger Hunt is one of the best parts of the challenge. The calendar gives your kids fun book-related challenges to do each day. For example, one day your child might be asked to read his favorite book three times and post a picture of himself reading the book. Another challenge might ask him to draw a picture of his favorite part of a book and then post a picture of it. As always, pictures should only be posted with the permission of a parent. Don't be afraid to get involved as a parent—it makes the whole challenge more fun!
What to do when you've read all the books
Once your child reads five books, fill out the entry form and mail it to the address on the bottom of the form. Be sure to send your entry by August 29, 2014 or it won't be eligible!
