1. Megamaster 1-Burner Tabletop Gas Grill
When you want to cook outdoors yet don’t want to lug around a humongous grill, a tabletop grill like the MegaMaster ($90.49, Amazon) is a worthy alternative. This 1-burner grill is small, super cheap, and portable. It’s the perfect size for camping trips, beach picnics, or BBQs in the park and fits easily in your car trunk. You only get about 350 square inches of cooking space, plus a warming rack on top. I admit that it’s smaller than your regular grill, but by the looks of it, you can still comfortably feed four people.
This grill heats fast, so you can start cooking within minutes. But be warned that because it’s a single burner, there might be heat limitations. Watch for discounts on this one — it was marked down 30% off to $81 in winter 2022.

2. Char-Broil Performance Series 4-Burner Gas Grill
The budget-friendly Char-Broil Performance Series 4-Burner Gas Grill ($259, Walmart) is a good choice if you need lots of grill space but don’t want to pay a hefty price. It features a total of four burners and 435 square inches of space, making it a must-have for family gatherings or when you’re cheffing it up for friends. It comes with a temperature gauge on the outside of the lid and side tables to organize your utensils and seasonings. You also get a 10,000 BTU side burner that keeps your side dishes and sauces warm until you’re ready to serve.
One tiny hiccup is that the side tables aren’t foldable, so you might have trouble storing them if you don’t have much space. Other than that it’s still a decent pick for the price. Keep in mind that if you’re a Walmart+ member, you can score free shipping and same-day delivery.
3. Weber Traveler Portable Grill
If you need a portable grill for your next camping trip or tailgate party, consider the Weber Traveler Portable Grill ($337.99, Walmart). It’s been on sale for a while now, so grab it while you can. We like that it looks and feels just like a piece of carry-on luggage, that you can collapse and get rolling whenever you’re done.
For a 1-burner grill, it’s surprisingly spacious. It measures about 320 square inches, which is rather small but should have adequate space to grill for a small group of people. You can also control heat levels and comfortably grill a range of items on it. Other highlights of this grill include heavy-duty porcelain cast-iron grates, a drip pan to collect the grease while you cook, and a side table to hold your tools. If the size is not an issue, then this is an inexpensive grill to try.
4. Monument Gas Grill
If you’re anything like me and love a good evening dinner party, consider the Monument grill ($419, Home Depot). It has cool, blue battery-powered LED lights, plus a light stick that you can turn on when the sun goes down.
This grill has space galore. It’s 513 square inches and comes with four main burners, plus an adjacent extra burner — just in case you want to whip up sides on the spot. Additionally, there’s a warming rack at the top with extra space for meat and veggies.
The best part of the Monument has got to be the clear window on the lid that lets you check your food’s progress without letting heat escape. For a mid-priced option, this one is hard to beat. Note that while this is out of stock online at the moment, you can possibly find this model at your local store.
5. Weber Spirit II E-210
If you live in an apartment or don’t have spare storage, the sleek and compact Weber Spirit II E-210 ($499, Amazon) is a grill that could work in your favor. This propane gas grill is specially made for small spaces. It features two burners, a folding side table that easily tucks away, and a double-sided cast iron cooking grate to cook your vegetables and burgers simultaneously. And get this, the Weber comes with flavorizer bars that smoke all that grilled flavor goodness back into your food. Yum.
This grill goes on sale occasionally. Sometimes you can find it at around $400, usually in mid-June or December.

6. Kenmore Smart Grill
With the Kenmore Smart Grill ($599, Lowes) you can cook your steak exactly how you want. This 4-burner smart grill is 593 square inches and uses Bluetooth to help you check individual temperatures for up to four different items. It even has a smart gas sensor that alerts you to low gas levels so you can make plans to replace your gas tank ahead of time. Assembly might be a little difficult, so consider buying it preassembled or have them put it together for you at the store.
7. Weber Genesis II E310
Seasoned grilling pros should check out the Weber Genesis II E310 ($779, Home Depot). At 513 square inches, this 3-burner grill gives you plenty of space to work with and has an extra-heavy lid to secure the heat. It also works with your phone, so you don’t have to stand in front of the grill to constantly check the temperature. The best part is that a 10-year manufacturer warranty backs it so you can replace any faulty part free of charge.
