Every Black Friday and holiday shopping season, Keurig is one of the most popular gifts because of how easy it is to use when making coffee, tea, or other hot drinks. But it seems like Keurig is in a little bit of hot water themselves, and they’ve reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit.
If you bought K-Cups at any point since 2016, you’re going to want to pay attention; you could be owed some of the $10 million settlement — up to $36. But you’re going to have to hurry; the deadline to file a claim is fast approaching.
Don’t worry, there’s not a Keurig recall or anything. We’ll tell you what’s up, plus how, when, and where to get your settlement money.
About the 2022 Keurig Settlement

A group of Keurig customers say the company misled them by calling their K-Cups “100% recyclable.” Keurig claimed testing backed up the claim, showing that 90% of their pods could be recycled into plastic.
While that’s technically true, the customers say their recycling companies can’t handle and repurpose items as small as K-Cup pods — and just end up throwing them away. They sued Keurig because they wouldn’t have purchased the items had they known they weren’t actually recyclable.
For what it’s worth, we’re still seeing the “recyclable” language on product packaging …
How much is the Keurig settlement?
Customers were awarded $10 million in the class action settlement, while Keurig admitted no wrongdoing.
Who qualifies for the 2022 settlement?
Anyone who bought K-Cup pods labeled as recyclable between June 8, 2016, through Aug. 8, 2022.
How much settlement money can you expect?
If you have proof of purchase, you can get $3.50 for every 100 pods for a maximum of $36. If you don’t have proof of purchase (or don’t want to go through the trouble of digging up your proof of purchase), you can only claim up to $5 per household.
When can you expect to get settlement money?
You can expect settlement money within 90 days of the final hearing (Dec. 8, 2022.) That means before mid-March 2023 — although you’ll likely receive funds much sooner.
We aren’t seeing any information about HOW the money will be distributed (check, gift card, etc.), but we can safely assume that you’ll be sent a check to the address you give during the claims process.
How do you claim your Keurig settlement money?
The deadline to make a claim is Jan. 9, 2023.
