The iPhone SE just went on sale Friday, April 17.
Preorders for the new iPhone SE launched on April 17, with shipments beginning a week later. Here are the new SE models being released:
- 64 GB iPhone SE (2nd generation) for $399
- 128 GB iPhone SE (2nd generation) for $449
- 256GB iPhone SE (2nd generation) for $549
The smartphone also comes in three color options, including white, black, and Product Red.
Apple will also donate a portion of the proceeds of the Product Red version sales to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response.
The new iPhone SE is comparable to the iPhone 8 but has a better camera.
When do we not hear this from Apple? Once again, they’re saying that the new model “has a better camera.” But, the new SE does objectively have a better camera than the iPhone 8. The iPhone 8, when new, started at $699. The new SE, starting at $399 is a better phone for a much better price.
In fact, the new SE second generation is very similar to the iPhone 8, which the device is essentially replacing, albeit with a few upgrades:
- Portrait mode
- Portrait Lighting
- Smart HDR for photos
- Quick Take video
- Stereo recording for video
- Longer video taking range
- Faster processing chip (same chip as iPhone 11 Pro)
- Haptic touch
The device has fast charging capabilities, but no headphone jack.
While the new SE comes with a basic 5W charger, it also supports much more powerful 18W fast charging with the correct adapter as well as Qi wireless charging.
Keep in mind that there is no headphone jack on this model. However, the device will include a pair of Lightning headphones.
