Like most Krazy Coupon Ladies, I am a huge fan of coupon codes. As you probably know already, during the checkout process on most e-commerce sites, the site will ask you if you have a coupon code (a.k.a., a promo code or a discount code). That’s when frugal online shoppers like myself typically open a new browser window to hunt down a valid coupon code. Before I ever make an online purchase, I search for coupon codes on sites like RetailMeNot and perform Google Searches such as “Old Navy free shipping coupon code.” It seems that more often than not, my searches lead to me wasting a lot of time scouring through a bunch of invalid or expired coupon codes to find, if I’m lucky, just one code that works.

In an effort to save time when searching for coupon codes online, I decided to install the new free Google Chrome browser plug-in Honey. Once you install Honey on your computer, visit one of the 100+ e-commerce sites that support Honey. Some of these sites include: Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Gap.com, OldNavy.com, Lowes.com, Macys.com, Overstock.com, Target.com, Walgreens.com, CVS.com, Sears.com, Kohls.com, and Kmart.com.

When you reach the checkout section of one of these sites, you’ll see Honey’s yellow “Find Savings” button next to the box on the site where you would normally enter your coupon code. Click on this button.

Without having to leave the e-commerce site you’re on, Honey will automatically scour the Web for coupon codes for your purchase and automatically try each of these potential codes.

If Honey finds an applicable code, it will be entered in the coupon code box, and the discount will be applied when you check out. If Honey can’t find a coupon code for you, at least you’ll know that you’re not missing out on a potential coupon code because Honey has already checked them all for you.

Want Honey? Here’s How to Download It:

  1. Currently, Honey only works with the free Internet browser Google Chrome. If you don’t already have Google Chrome installed on your computer, click here to install it.
  2. Go to www.joinhoney.com and click on the yellow “Install for Chrome” button.

Another Option: CouponsHelper for Firefox

The Internet browser Firefox also has a free coupon-code aggregating tool available for download called CouponsHelper. CouponsHelper automatically finds coupon codes from thousands of retailers while you shop online. CouponsHelper is hidden until it finds coupons, so no pointless pop-ups will appear on your screen. If you are shopping on a website that CouponsHelper has found a coupon code for, you will see a yellow toolbar on the top of your screen with one or more coupon codes on it.

For a description of the coupon code, click on it. If you want to apply the coupon code to your purchase, copy and paste the code into the coupon code box during checkout on the site. To use CouponsHelper, you must first download the free Internet browser Firefox (if you don’t already have it) by clicking here. Then click on this link, and click on the green “Add to Firefox” button. Happy online shopping!
