5. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Fried Endorian Tip-Yip Recipe

You can eat like you’re in a galaxy far, far away with this chicken (aka “Tip Yip”) dish.

  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Vegetable oil (or similar)
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 batch mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup cooked mixed vegetables (peas/carrots/corn)

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and set aside. Fill a small saucepan with 2 inches of oil. Place over medium heat and begin to heat it up to around 350 degrees while you prepare the chicken.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne to mix evenly. In another small bowl, beat together the egg and the buttermilk.
  • Working with one piece at a time, dip the chicken into the egg mixture, then the flour mixture, making sure it’s well coated. Repeat that sequence, then set the chicken aside.
  • Once all the meat is coated, begin frying by lowering it into the hot oil a few pieces at a time. Flipping occasionally, cook for about 5 – 10 minutes, until a nice dark golden brown color. Remove to a plate lined with paper towel to drain.
  • To assemble the dish, stir together the mashed potatoes and the mixed vegetables. Add a generous dollop of this to each serving dish. Tumble several of the nuggets on top and enjoy straightaway.

8. Mickey-Mouse Shaped Beignets Recipe

For this recipe, you may spend your budget getting a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter, or don’t bother with that if you need your $10 budget for the other ingredients. Any cookie cutter works for this treat available in New Orleans Square.

  • 1/2 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (105°)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

  2. Combine sugar, shortening, salt, heavy cream, egg, flour, and boiling water in a large bowl; stir in yeast mixture.
  3. Use the dough hook attachment on your electric mixer and mix the dough on medium speed, just until combined and smooth. Let dough rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut individual beignets with a Mickey Mouse-shaped cutter or cut into 2 1/2- to 3-inch squares. Cover with a towel and let dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Using caution, heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F in a deep, heavy pot over medium-high heat. Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes, turning as soon as they brown on one side. Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain. Dust warm beignets with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
