Looking for a profitable side-hustle on Etsy but not sure what to make?

Everything here is relatively easy to make and known to sell particularly well on Etsy.

Just know that starting an Etsy business will require some upfront investment, so start with small material quantities and low-cost methods.

Then ramp up your production with new materials and tools as you increase your income.

1. Sell hand-drawn art as stickers for $1-10 per pack.

Monetize your doodles by turning them into stickers!

Hand-drawn stickers are the top-selling items on Etsy.

Check out this tutorial on converting your drawings into usable stickers. My preferred method requires sticker paper, a scanner, and a printer, but there are lots of ways to go about this!

2. Sell customized water bottles for $10-40 per bottle.

Plain water bottles and tumblers are super cheap (you can even get them at the dollar store.) But once they’re customized with a trendy design or relatable quote, they sell for $10-$40.

This tutorial demonstrates a cheap and easy method for beginners using just contact paper and spray paint.

If you have a knack for designing desirable water bottles, you may want to consider investing a few hundred dollars in a vinyl printer and using the method shown here.

If you can’t draw or just want to speed up your process, you can easily trace designs, or simply make them on your computer.

TIP: Having a vinyl cutter allows you to try out several different product markets including stickers, water bottles, decor, children’s bedroom art, and personalized wedding gifts. It’s addicting!

3. Sell handmade kids’ clothes or accessories for $5-150.

Not only do handmade kids’ clothes sell better than their adult counterparts, smaller size means less time and materials invested up front!

For beginning to intermediate sewers, knitters, and crocheters, children’s hats and scarves are easy to make and a great place to start.

Be sure to scout out successful shops, and find out what styles and colors sell best.

4. Create headbands to sell for $2-50.

Some of the top Etsy shops sell mainly — or exclusively — headbands. This is another project with a low up-front investment and some serious selling potential.

Make anything from knit headbands to more structured styles to tiaras.

Appeal to a wider audience by offering a variety of sizes from newborn to adult. Knit baby headbands are more popular than you might think!

5. Construct custom jewelry for $2-100, depending on the quality.

Women’s jewelry is another top seller on Etsy. Their users love unique pieces at competitive prices.

Try selling items at a variety of price points, like charms for a couple dollars and more elaborate layered pieces for $40-$100.

Since there is so much competition on Etsy, it’s important to make your products exceptional. Use high-quality materials, test your pieces for durability, and don’t just copy styles you see online!

6. Tap into a niche audience by selling handcrafted seasonal home decor for $5-200.

Having a niche product can make a world of difference in your visibility on a site as crowded as Etsy.

Keep seasonal crafting costs low by shopping off-season for craft supplies, and stock up when prices are ridiculously low (typically the week following the holiday).

Stand out even more with customized decor. Offer personalized options like wreaths that read “Happy Holidays from the [surname] Family!”

Pro tip: Know your market!

If you can’t already tell, the majority of Etsy users are female. Even men’s and children’s merchandise is likely to be purchased as a gift by a woman.

From sourcing materials, to designing your products, to writing your listings, it’s very important to keep your audience in mind.

For example, try tagging your men’s or children’s items with the keyword “gift” to boost your shop’s SEO and increase the item’s visibility.
