Instead of: NARS Ashes to Ashes Eyeshadow, $25
Try: Maybelline Silken Taupe Eyeshadow, $4.49
NARS Ashes to Ashes is a dusty gray/plum-lavender shade with just a hint of a shimmer. It's pretty sheer so you can swipe on just a tiny bit for the perfect daytime look. Or add more eyeshadow for a rockin' smoky eye—which is my go-to look for any night out with girlfriends. This eyeshadow is velvety and blends easily on my lids. It doesn't get cakey or crease, even at the end of the day. Although Ashes to Ashes is one of my favorites, I despise the $25 price tag.
Maybelline makes an exact dupe for less than $5! Silken Taupe is not only virtually identical in color, it applies just like its pricier counterpart. It's smooth, easy to blend and lasts for more than five hours without creasing or fading on me. There’s a tiny bit of fallout when you apply it, but you just have to sweep away the flecks with a clean powder brush. And for under five bucks, I can live with that.
