How to sign up
Head on over to Apple Camp’s website and select your state and store from the dropdown menu. Once you locate your store, click on "reserve" to save your child a spot. Don't worry if the time slot you want is full—most workshops offer a "Wait List" option!
When camps are held
Workshops are held July 14th through August 1st. Each workshop lasts for three days and is an hour and a half long. I find that this is the perfect length for my kids—it's just long enough to hold their attention!
Stories in Motion with iMovie
At the Stories in Motion with iMovie camp, all campers learn how to create their own movies. Each child designs his or her own storyboard, shoots the video footage, comes up with his or her very own soundtrack, and edits it all together. My daughters loved watching their creations come to life on a Mac.
Interactive Storytelling with iBooks
Kids can create their very own electronic books at the Interactive Storytelling with iBooks camp. Your child will learn how to illustrate pictures and add amazing sound effects. But the best part is that your camper will learn how to make the book interactive with the Multi-Touch feature on Mac's iBooks Author. This camp was definitely the favorite of my book-loving son.
What you can expect
Bring your own digital video camera if you are planning on attending a Stories in Motion with iMovie camp. Don't worry if you don't have one–Apple will let you borrow one. You (or another legal guardian) must stay with your child during the camp. This wasn't a problem for me—I found each activity as fascinating as my children did! Spots fill up fast, so be sure to sign up right away if you are interested in Apple's Camp for Kids!
