U.S. National Parks offer travel and vacation opportunities that can be wonderfully adventurous and surprisingly affordable. I’m talking about ten bucks for LIFE affordable! My family and I have spent some of our most memorable times together enjoying the beauty of America’s national parks. During a recent trip with my mother to the historic Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine, Florida, we found out about an exclusive offer for seniors that just might be the best travel bargain ever.

Who, where and how much?

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are at least 62 years old can purchase a lifetime Senior Pass for a one-time processing fee of just $10. Normally, an entrance pass to the nation’s parks costs $80 per year, per person, but this seniors-only deal offers lifetime access for only ten bucks! These passes cover entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges, as well as standard amenity fees at national forests and grasslands, and at lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation. But this deal gets even better—these senior passes also provide entrance and standard amenity fees for a driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle. This is valid at sites that charge per vehicle entry fees, or up to three more adults at sites that charge on a per-person basis. Yes, that’s right: one senior pass will allow access for up to a total of four adults or even an entire car load of folks! This makes traveling with the family a great and truly affordable idea.

Other benefits

There are other benefits to the $10 lifetime senior pass, like a 50% discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch and specialized interpretive services.
