Every year, I’m on the lookout for advent calendar deals. They’re an easy way to get high-end makeup samples at (what seems to be) a more affordable price. And guess what: I found out that the Anthropologie Advent Calendar just came in for 2022. When I bought one in store, the employee helping me told me it sells out every year — so I had to see why.
It comes at a hefty price of $82, and the retailer tells you that the total cost of the set is $300. You get 24 products from high-end brands like Butter London and Mario Badescu. But to see if you’re actually saving on a beauty product, take the total price of it and divide it by the number of ounces on the packaging. So $82 divided by 24 brings you to about $3.41 apiece.
The included Butter London Mini Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer usually costs $12 for 0.2 fluid ounces. But this calendar gives you the same size nail polish for just $3. Also, Mario Badescu’s Mini Gentle Foaming Cleanser typically costs $8 for 0.2 ounces. That brings you to $4 an ounce. With Anthropologie’s Advent Calendar, you get one full ounce for $3, or $1 cheaper than usual.
Note that you’ll run into higher costs for just a few products. Like the Grow Gorgeous Volume Bodifying Leave-In Serum, for example, typically costs $10 for five ounces. That means it costs $2 an ounce. With the calendar, you’re paying $3 for 1 ounce, so it’s $1 more. But overall, I think the Anthropologie Advent Calendar is totally worth it.
