Family Dollar Return Policy

Family Dollar is a good place to get low-priced everyday goods, but sometimes a product doesn't work out or otherwise needs to be returned or exchanged.

Today we'll answer all of your questions about the Family Dollar return policy.

1. How many days do you have to return/exchange items at Family Dollar?

Family Dollar gives you 30 days after purchase to return or exchange products.

That applies to both in-store and online purchases. Just make sure you bring your receipt.

Family Dollar refunds customers via the payment method you used for the purchase — or you can request in-store credit on a Family Dollar gift card.

2. Can you return something to Family Dollar without a receipt?

Yes, but there are limits. The store's policy is that you can return or exchange up to three unopened items without a receipt within a 30-day period.

Without a receipt, Family Dollar will exchange or refund items at their lowest advertised price — and all refunds will be issued via a Family Dollar merchandise return card.

There are some products that cannot be returned without a receipt period. Let's look at some of the specifics.

3. Can opened items be returned at Family Dollar?

Generally speaking, yes, as long as you have a receipt and are within the 30-day window.

You're out of luck if you don't have a receipt with an opened item. .

4. Can you return Family Dollar food items without a receipt?

FamilyYes, but you can't get a refund. Family Dollar will let you exchange the products only for other food items. They won't issue a return card.   [wp_ad_camp_1]  

5. What is Family Dollar's return policy for electronics?

Unopened electronics with original receipt may be exchanged or returned, as long as you bring the item back the way you found it..

If the merchandise is opened and you have a receipt, you may exchange the product for the same item, but you won't be able to get a refund.

If you don't have a receipt, you're out of luck. No returns or exchanges.

This same return policy applies to heaters and fans.

6. Can you return air mattresses and airbeds to Family Dollar?

intex comfort queen air mattressAir mattresses are the thin, inflatable cushions you use for camping or other temporary situations. Airbeds are more substantial. They're thicker, and built to be potential bed replacements.

Family Dollar won't allow you to return any air mattresses – with or without a receipt.

If you want to return an airbed, you can take it up with the manufacturer, Kentex, by calling (888) 220-2207 or emailing customerservice@kentexcorp.net within 15 days of purchase.

For the Kentex airbeds, customers must have the original box and original receipt to qualify for a return.

7. Can you return Pokemon cards at Family Dollar?

No, you cannot return Pokemon cards at Family Dollar – at least not if you ordered them online.

You also can't return or exchange any opened packages of Pokemon cards for obvious reasons. No returns just because you didn't get a holographic Charizard!

8. Does Family Dollar accept returns or exchanges on alcohol or tobacco products?

No. All sales are final. With or without the receipt.

9. How do Family Dollar returns work for items purchased with Medicare or Medicaid?

With a receipt, Family Dollar will issue refunds or permit exchanges on any medical items purchased with Medicare or Medicaid over-the-counter benefits cards.

If you don't have a receipt, Family Dollar won't allow a refund, but will let you exchange the purchased items for other medical items.

10. What is the Family Dollar return policy on store brands?

Products from Family Dollar's private brands are eligible for a 100% refund with receipt within 30 days of purchase if you're unsatisfied for any reason.

Without a receipt, you can still make an exchange, but you won't get a refund.

11. Does Family Dollar offer refunds for gift cards and other prepaid cards?

It depends on the card. When it comes to Family Dollar gift cards or prepaid Visa gift cards, all sales are final.

Prepaid wireless cards may be returned for a refund if none of the minutes on the card have been used. Otherwise, it can't be returned.

12. How long does it take for Family Dollar's refund to appear on my credit or debit card?

Family Dollar's website says it could take up to 30 days, but staff says the refunds are usually pretty quick. You may request a Family Dollar merchandise return card if you'd rather have the credit back immediately.

13. Can you return FamilyDollar.com purchases to a Family Dollar store?

Yes. Anything purchased at FamilyDollar.com may be returned by taking it to a physical store (with receipt or order information), or by calling online customer order support at (833) 232-0002.

14. Can you return Dollar Tree items to Family Dollar, or vice versa?

No. Although Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are owned by the same company, it doesn't mean the two stores have connectivity like Old Navy and Gap.

If you're not a fan of Dollar Tree's return policy, don't expect to take advantage of Family Dollar's more generous policy by returning your items there. It won't work.

15. Can you exchange items you bought at Family Dollar with a coupon?

Yes, but beware.

Family Dollar accepts manufacturer coupons — both printable and newspaper. You can use one manufacturer coupon per item in store.

If you decide you don't want an item you bought with a coupon, Family Dollar won't stop you from returning or exchanging it. But just know that it's technically coupon fraud against the manufacturer.

If at some point you've absolutely got to return an item and there's no way to retrieve your coupon, it's up to you, but we don't recommend making this a practice.
