1. Preheat the oven in half the time by setting to broil for 3-5 minutes.
Turn your oven to the highest broil setting for 3-5 minutes and then switch it to the desired temp. This will cut the preheat time down by at least 50%.
2. Store plastic wrap in the fridge to make it easier to wrangle.
Keeping your plastic wrap chilled will keep it from sticking to everything in sight. When you’re ready to cover your food, wet the edges of the bowl, and the plastic wrap will stick to it without trouble.

Then, insert a spoon and twist to get out the most juice.
Skip the fancy juicer and squeeze your lemon dry with just a spoon. Cut the lemon in half, stick the spoon into the middle of the lemon, and turn the spoon while you squeeze the lemon.
7. Before grating soft cheeses, freeze for 30 minutes to avoid crumbling.
8. Cook the perfect hard-boiled egg by using a thumbtack.
First, bring a pot of water to a gentle boil. Insert a thumbtack into the larger (not pointy) side of each egg, and slowly drop the eggs into the water. The thumbtack releases pressure inside the egg, which keeps the eggshells from cracking in the water. Cook for 10 minutes and then take the eggs out and put them in cold water for a few minutes.
9. Use eggshell as a magnet to attract eggshell bits.

10. Peel baked potatoes by giving them an ice bath.
First, boil your potatoes with the skin still intact. When they are done cooking, remove the potatoes from the pot with tongs and put them in an ice bath for 3-5 minutes. From there the potato skins will slide right off–just twist the potato in your hand to remove the skin.
11. Soften an unripe avocado by microwaving it for 30 seconds.
Pierce the avocado with a fork (about 10 times) and then microwave in 30-second intervals. This will soften the avocado, though the flavor won’t be as good as a naturally ripe avocado.
