Waffle lovers, listen up: As of May 18, 2022, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall for PowerXL Stuffed Wafflizer waffle makers due to a potential hazard. The waffle makers, manufactured in China and distributed by Empower Brands, have been found to pose a burn risk to consumers.

When using or opening these waffle makers, hot pieces of the waffle or stuffing can fly out and possible burn the user. The company has received a total of 44 reports of this happening, and out of those, 34 people ended up with burn injuries (and three of those injuries required medical attention).

We’ll tell you more info about this recall, including which products are affected, what to do you if you have one, and contact information for consumers affected by the product recall.

The waffle maker recall affects 456,000 devices sold at Walmart, Target, and other Big Box stores.
