Katie Swanson, aka “Coupon Katie,” is bringing extreme couponing back into the limelight, thanks to her coupon shopping and a new app called Tik Tok.
We had Katie out to KCL headquarters and sat down and talked about how she became the coupon celebrity for Gen Z.

Coupon Katie began on Tik Tok in March of this year.
Katie was the first Couponer on Tik Tok, a social media platform originally created for sharing Karaoke-style music videos. Teenagers are the primary users of the app that’s rumored to be worth a billion dollars.
Katie incorporates music and humor into her 60 second Tik Tok videos and it’s resonating. Her average video views land between 100K and a million views.
But she’s been couponing for five years. . . with a coupon binder.
While Coupon Katie on Tik Tok is new, Katie Swanson couponing is not. Katie’s been couponing at Target, CVS, and her Kroger affiliate Pick N Save for over five years. She even uses a binder like the one KCL promoted back in the extreme couponing days.
And Katie’s an ethical Couponer. She’s big on teaching her followers to adhere to coupon policies and rules.
She’s got a drool-worthy stockpile.
Thanks to the money she saves by buying ahead, Katie says she never stresses about missing a deal. She’s a busy mom and doesn’t always chase every deal.
Many of Coupon Katie’s Tik Tok followers are high school and college students.
Tik Tok’s primary users are teenagers and college students, and Katie’s blend of coupons and comedy have fed a genuine interest in saving money by a younger generation.
Young people are using coupons, learning to budget, and becoming responsible consumers because of a lip-sync app. That’s Krazy.
We Tik Tok’d with Katie and felt about 87 doing it.
Katie uses Tik Tok trending audio for video inspiration, and while she was here at the Krazy Coupon Lady office, we danced with coupons for . . . I literally have no idea why.
