Getting your child the nutrition they may need can feel like an impossible task, especially if they’re picky eaters. And trust me, I’ve experienced my fair share of migraine-inducing meltdowns trying to get my son to eat his last two bites of broccoli at dinner time. But this summer, I’ve discovered a new hack that’s been a lifesaver: PediaSure Grow & Gain Shakes come in 8 oz. cans now (in vanilla flavor and chocolate flavor), and I’ve been mixing them with different fruits and vegetables to make smoothies and popsicles he loves. The cans make life easier when I’m on-the-go and are also WIC-eligible. And since one serving of PediaSure has 7 grams of protein and 27 vitamins and minerals, I feel better when he has a can with breakfast to jump-start his day.
PediaSure doesn’t go on sale too often, but now through July 15, Walmart is offering an Ibotta deal on 16-packs of their Grow & Gain Shake cans, which are available in vanilla and chocolate. Right now, you’ll get $6 cash back at Walmart if you save the offer and then upload your receipt to the Ibotta app. This cash back offer brings down your cost to 27% less than what you’d pay for other kids nutrition shake brands in the market.
Here are the PediaSure Grow & Gain recipes that are a big hit in my house. Be sure to text HACKS to 57299 for more money-saving secrets and hacks.
1. Use an 8 oz. can of Vanilla PediaSure Grow & Gain to make the Purple People Eater smoothie.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup purple carrots
- ½ cup frozen mixed berries
- 8 oz. can of PediaSure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Vanilla
- 4-5 ice cubes
My kid loves the color that the purple carrots and berries bring to this smoothie, and the vanilla Pediasure brings all of the flavors together and tones down the tartness of the berries, too. Just place all of the listed ingredients into your blender until everything is mixed. Then, add ice cubes depending on how thick your child likes their smoothies. (With the berries already frozen, you may not need a lot, so add a one or two cubes at a time!)
2. All you need to make Chunky Monkey Fudgesicles is a can of chocolate-flavored PediaSure, a ripe banana, and popsicle molds.
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe banana
- 8 oz. can of PediaSure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Chocolate
- 2 reusable popsicle molds
First, you’ll need a set of reusable popsicle molds, which you can get for less than $10 at Walmart.
Chop up one ripe banana into small pieces and equally divide the pieces into two popsicle molds. Then, pour one 8 oz. can of Pediasure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Chocolate equally over each mold. Stir so that the banana pieces are distributed throughout each popsicle. Then, freeze them for four hours or until they feel firm.
3. The Green Monster is a sweet shake you can sneak greens into.
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. can of PediaSure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Vanilla
- ½ cup of crushed pineapple (can be fresh or canned)
- One handful of kale or spinach
- 4-5 ice cubes
Put all of the ingredients into your blender and blend until mixed. (I usually go for about 45 seconds.) Then, add a couple of ice cubes at a time, depending on how thick your child likes their smoothies.

4. Blend a can of vanilla PediaSure Grow & Gain with fruit to make the Pink Princess Potion smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. can of PediaSure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Vanilla
- 1 cup frozen whole unsweetened raspberries
- ½ of a ripe banana
- 4-5 ice cubes
Pour the can of PediaSure into the blender. Then, add 1 cup of your frozen raspberries and ½ of a sliced ripe banana. Blend until smooth and decide how many ice cubes you want to add. The color is a perfect pink and the tartness of the raspberries is balanced out by the banana and vanilla flavors.
5. Dreamy Strawberry Creamsicles, made with vanilla Pediasure Grow & Gain, pack way more nutrition than a regular popsicle.
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. can of Pediasure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Vanilla
- 6 fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup of plain low-fat yogurt
- 4 reusable popsicle molds
Slice your strawberries and equally place them into four popsicle molds. Then, mix one 8 oz. can of PediaSure Grow & Gain Nutritional Shake, Vanilla and your yogurt in a bowl. Pour the mixture equally into your four popsicle molds. Then, freeze them for four hours or until they feel firm. This recipe makes four creamsicles.
