With too-many-to-count retailers closing due to coronavirus, many shopping malls are also closing temporarily. It makes sense, as with so many shuttered stores it’s starting to look like a ghost town at my local mall.

Here are the biggest mall companies shutting down for the time being. Please let us know if you are near a closed mall not on this list and we’ll update so everyone is in the loop, but keep in mind that many states are opting to close malls individually, as well.


1. Simon Property Group is closing 200+ malls until end of March.

Simon Property Group, the country’s largest mall operator, owns 209 properties all over the U.S., many of which are outlets. This happens at 7pm CT today and lasts until March 29.

2. Over 40 Westfield Malls are closing until March 29.

Westfield Malls, owned by Unibail-Rodamco, are being closed from today, March 19 to March 29. Below are the affected malls in the U.S.
