Candy corn is a particularly polarizing fall/Halloween candy, but it’s gonna have an even harder time this spooky season in some parts of the country after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a candy corn recall.

Now, before you go throwing away your bag of candy corn, make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons (you know, that it’s objectively the worst Halloween candy out there). Just as we’re expecting a Halloween candy shortage for some items, it looks like there’s going to be a little less candy corn on the market.

Here’s what you need to know about the candy corn recall:

Candy Corn is being recalled because it contains egg.

Massachusetts-based Arcade Snacks is recalling their candy corn products after they determined that recent batches may contain undeclared egg in the ingredients. And for people with egg allergies, eating the candy corn could lead to a life-threatening allergic reaction.

There have been no illnesses reported, and that could be because most brands of candy corn are known to contain egg whites and people with allergies may have already assumed Arcade’s candy corn had egg, as well.

If you happen to have the affected Arcade Snacks candy corn, return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund. Most importantly, don’t hand it out to trick-or-treaters. If you have any questions, call Arcade Snacks at 1-508-832-6300 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET on weekdays.

And … if you MUST buy candy corn, there are plenty of non-recalled varieties at Walmart and Target. And we’ve got lots of candy coupons.
