Let’s look a little more closely at the price points and overall value of these two products side by side. For the sake of this comparison, we’re only going to look at full-sized products, since sample sizes have a different price per ounce. In terms of price per package, it’s obvious that the dupe is way cheaper. It’s $25 less than the original. Easy choice, right? Well, let’s double-check that hunch by comparing the price per ounce.
A full-sized container of the Maybelline lippie is 0.04 ounces, whereas a full-sized Pillow Talk tube is 0.12 ounces. That means Charlotte Tilbury has three times more product than Maybelline. But does a bigger size justify a bigger price?
Usually, I think about these products in terms of price per ounce. However, since these containers have only fractions of an ounce, that number gets pretty big.
