How do I get a coronavirus vaccine from drugstores? How much does the Covid-19 vaccine cost? When will I be eligible for the vaccine?

Lots of questions swirling around as states continue to administer vaccines nationwide. While every state has their own rollout plans (see below), we can help reduce some confusion as it relates to your favorite drugstore.

Keep in mind, though, at this point, frontline workers and people over 65 are first in line. All of these vaccines are free, although if you’re uninsured, you may be charged an “administration fee” at these places (although no one can be denied a vaccine if they are unable to pay this fee).

Here’s what you need to know about each store:

 

CVS Covid-19 vaccine

Which vaccine(s): Either Pfizer or Moderna, depending on location (not both)

Available at all locations: No

Drop-ins welcome: No

How to schedule an appointment:

  • Visit the CVS Covid-19 vaccine page.
  • Find your participating state (there are currently 18 states and Puerto Rico).
  • Browse the list of locations administering vaccines (many are fully booked).
  • If there’s a vacancy, click “Schedule an appointment now.”
  • Fill out a short questionnaire about Covid-19 exposure and your eligibility to receive the vaccine.
  • If you meet the requirements, you may then choose an appointment time at your local CVS.

 

Walgreens Covid-19 vaccine

Which vaccine(s): Either Pfizer or Moderna, depending on location (not both)

Available at all locations: No

Drop-ins welcome: No

How to schedule an appointment:

 

Kroger Covid-19 vaccine

Which vaccine(s): Either Pfizer or Moderna, depending on location (not both)

Available at all locations: No.

Drop-ins welcome: No

How to schedule an appointment:

  • Visit the Kroger vaccine update site.
  • Find your participating state by zip code (there are currently 22 states).
  • Make sure they have the Covid-19 vaccine as an option in their list of available vaccines.
  • If a local Kroger store has availability, fill out your information, pick an appointment time, and submit.

 

 

Walmart Covid-19 vaccine

Which vaccine(s): “Only FDA-authorized vaccines,” which so far only include Pfizer and Moderna

Available at all locations: No

Drop-ins welcome: No

How to schedule an appointment:

  • Log in to your Walmart.com account.
  • Choose from the list of Walmart pharmacies in your area offering the Covid-19 vaccine.
  • Fill out a short questionnaire about your eligibility.
  • Browse appointment availability within the next 7 days (many are fully booked).

 

Sam’s Club Covid-19 vaccine

Which vaccine(s): “Only FDA-authorized vaccines,” which so far only include Pfizer and Moderna

Available at all locations: No

Drop-ins welcome: No

How to schedule an appointment:

  • Log in to your Sam’s Club account or sign up for a free guest account (no Sam’s Club membership required).
  • Choose from the list of Sam’s Club pharmacies in your area offering the Covid-19 vaccine.
  • Fill out a short questionnaire about your eligibility.
  • Browse appointment availability within the next 7 days (many are fully booked).
