Want to do something festive for Valentine’s Day that doesn’t involve candy? A number of different stores are offering free kid-friendly valentine craft kits they’ll love assembling. And since crafts are among the best indoor activities for the younger set and it’s still really frickin’ cold, it’s a win-win.

Stores like Home Depot, Lowe’s, and JCPenney offer free kids’ crafts on Saturdays throughout the month. February crafts will be Valentine’s Day themed and include all of the supplies, as well as the craft they get to bring home. Some workshops require preregistration while others just recommend you to arrive early to snag a spot.

Home Depot Free Valentine Craft Kit Workshop: Valentine’s Vase

The Home Depot Kids Workshop free Valentine's Day vase craft for February 2023

Home Depot will be hosting a Valentine’s Day craft workshop on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, from 9 a.m. to noon where kids can build their own Valentine’s Vase. Registration is open now, so make sure to sign up. Alternatively, you can purchase the kit at the Home Depot customer service desk or online when it becomes available. These kits sell out quickly, so set a reminder on your phone to snag one.

If you miss out on the Valentine’s Day craft, Home Depot does free kids’ workshops every first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon local time.

From 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 11, JCPenney will host a KidsZone craft event where kids will create a Panda or Sloth Valentine’s Day card. You don’t need to preregister for these classes, but supplies are limited.

Kids get the craft kit, an ID badge, a lanyard, and a collector’s pin; parents get an extra 10% off coupon good on an in-store purchase (stackable with other discounts) to shop and save while their kids create.

JCPenney hosts KidsZone craft events on the second Saturday of every month, so if you miss the Valentine’s Day craft, you can try again in March!

Joann Free Craft

Joann offers take-home craft kits every first Saturday of the month. They haven’t announced their February 2023 craft yet, but we’ll update this as soon as they do. Last year we saw Valentine’s Day craft bags to create a pennant for the holiday offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. This is one of those “only while supplies last” situations, so get there early!

Registration is open until Feb. 10, but spots will go fast. In fact, they’ll likely fill up on Jan. 16 when registration opens up, so mark your calendars and act quickly.
