Free PlayStation games are back in a big way.
Almost a year ago, Sony gave quarantining gamers a couple of their games for free as part of their “Play at Home” initiative.
They’ve leveled up in 2021 with a bunch of free downloads of PlayStation 4 games (that also work on the new PlayStation 5) — worth more than $250!
Here’s what you need to know:
Get Ratchet & Clank through March 31, 2021.
Sony’s first freebie for 2021 is the PlayStation 4 edition of the popular cartoon action game Ratchet & Clank, which is regularly priced just under $20.
Starting March 25, download another 9 indie games worth $235.
You don’t need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to get any of these free games. All you need is a PlayStation 4/5 (in some cases, a PlayStation VR) and an internet connection.
Sony is offering nine games from some of their favorite indie developers, worth $235:
- ABZÛ – reg. $19.99
- Enter the Gungeon – reg. $14.99
- Subnautica – reg. $29.99
- The Witness – reg. $39.99
- Rez Infinite (also available for PlayStation VR) – reg. $29.99
- Astro Bot Rescue Mission (PlayStation VR) – reg. $19.99
- Moss (PlayStation VR) – reg. $29.99
- Thumper (PlayStation VR) – reg. $19.99
- Paper Beast (PlayStation VR) – reg. $29.99
The freebies are available until 8 p.m. PDT on April 22. Once you download the games, they’re yours to keep forever.
Head to the PlayStation Store to get your free PlayStation games.
Navigate to the PlayStation Store on your gaming console and look for the promotional “Play at Home” image. From there, you should easily be able to download your free PS4 games.
If you don’t see the Play at Home promotion, just search for the individual games. The price should show as free for each.
Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be free in April.
Even after these 10 free games, Sony says they’re not done yet.
Starting April 19, they’ll offer Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for free download between April 19 and May 14.
