How do I love thee, Target? Let me count the ways….

Let’s be honest: a’int nobody got time for that! Suffice it to say, my love affair with Target is deep, and it is real.

In fact, Target and I used to be neighbors and I learned a lot. What’s the #1 thing I learned? If you shop there and don’t have the RedCard, you’re throwing away money by the handful.

I assure you I’m not being overly dramatic. The Target RedCard will save you so much money! I’m not normally a big advocate of jumping on the store-card train, but this card can be yours in a matter of minutes, and I will sing the praises of the Target RedCard all day long.

All you need is love, and a whole lot of perks

The Target RedCard is packed full of awesomeness, including these benefits:

I’m sorry; was I shouting? Good, because I meant to. This is the most amazing deal ever! This isn’t a one-time discount for signing up, and there aren’t any coupons to clip, hoops to jump through, special sale days, or exclusions. Every time you use your card to buy something in-store or online, you automatically save 5%. Whether you shop there a little—or a lot—that adds up to big savings.

Free shipping

Target already has decent shipping prices, but can you really beat free? With the RedCard, you don’t even have to meet the $50 minimum to get this perk. You get free standard shipping on any item on their site.

Debit or credit card options

The RedCard is available as a debit card that uses a PIN and connects directly to your checking account or as a credit card. Both offer the same discounts and rewards with no fees, so you can choose what makes the most sense for you.

Education donation

Target will donate 1% of your total purchases to a school of your choice. Your shopping supports the children! If that’s not a good reason to go buy stuff, I don’t know what is.

30 extra return days

If you’re the type to hem and haw over your purchases, or need a little more time to make up your mind, then you’re in luck. When you buy your goods with the Target RedCard, you get 30 extra days to return any unwanted items or things you’ve simply changed your mind about.

What are you waiting for?

Now, I know you’re thinking, “Hmmmm, I should get a card next time I’m in the store.” That well-intentioned statement sounds nice, but when you’re standing at the register with a line of people behind you and a child looking at you with that “I-might-lose-it-at-any-moment” face, taking five extra minutes to fill out paperwork will seem like a death sentence. Trust me–signing up for the card now will be the second best decision you’ve ever made. (The first best is getting the card in the first place. Duh.)

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Birthday
  • Social security number
  • Driver’s license or valid ID
  • Mailing address
  • Checking account number and bank routing number (for debit card only)

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to the Target RedCard site.
  2. Choose the debit or credit card option and click “apply now.”
  3. Enter your personal information (see above).
  4. Review your information and hit “submit.”
  5. Start enjoying the exclusive savings!

The reality is you likely just spent more time reading about how to get a card than it will take you to actually get a card. So, take a few minutes and head to the Target RedCard page to sign up for your card today—it’s the smarter way to shop!
