Before You Start an Abercrombie Return:

You have 30 days to return an item you bought in store at Abercrombie for a refund.

Similar to most standard return policies, you have 30 days from the day you bought an item to return it for a refund. To return something, just bring it back to an Abercrombie store with your receipt and you’ll get a refund back to your original payment method. Make sure the item has not been worn or washed and ensure that the tags are still attached.

You have 30 days to return an item you bought online at Abercrombie for a refund.

If you bought an item at Abercrombie.com, you have 30 days from the date you received it in the mail to return it for a refund. The item has to be unworn with tags still attached.

This is important: the item must be shipped back within 30 days to get a refund. If you ship it back on the 30th day or after 30 days, you will only get a gift card with the refund amount. To avoid this, I would try on everything the day you get it in the mail. That way, you can know what you want to keep and what you want to return. From there, you can either return these items at your local Abercrombie store or through the mail. Just be sure to do this before the 30 days are up.

You must have your Abercrombie receipt, invoice, or order confirmation to get a refund.

To get a full refund to your original payment method or a gift card with the refund amount, you must have your receipt, invoice, or order confirmation number. If you bought something in store, be sure to hold on to your receipt. Abercrombie employees will sometimes ask if you want the receipt printed or emailed, and I always like to do both. This way, I have a digital version of the receipt in case I happen to lose the printed version.

If you order something online at Abercrombie, your package will include a printed packing slip. Treat this like a receipt. What’s also nice is that when you order something online, you will get an email with your order confirmation, so you can use this when you need to return something.

Tags must be attached to items to get a full refund at Abercrombie.

Make sure the tags are attached to all of the items you want to return. If the tags are not attached, Abercrombie will not accept the return — and you won’t get your refund.

To get a refund, items cannot be used or worn.

The items you are returning cannot be worn and washed if you want to get a refund. This is pretty standard across all return policies, so just make sure your items are in resellable condition. If it looks like you have worn something, they won’t let you return it.

The Abercrombie holiday return policy is different from the general return policy.

Any merchandise purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 may be returned through Jan. 31 of the following year. Just note that you must have your original receipt, invoice, or order confirmation to get a refund.

How to Return Abercrombie Items:

Return items in store.

Whether you bought something in store or online, the easiest way to return something is inside an Abercrombie store. To return something, just take it to a store and tell an employee why you want to return the item. Make sure you have the receipt and that the tags are still attached.

Return items by mail.

If you bought something online from Abercrombie, you can return it in the mail. Returns by mail are accepted if they arrive at the Abercrombie warehouse within 30 days of your order date. This means you cannot ship it back 30 days later. The items already have to be at the Abercrombie warehouse by the 30th day to get a refund.

Note: You cannot return items you bought in store through the mail. You have to return the items to an Abercrombie store instead.

To return something by mail, you have to look up your order on Abercrombie.com. You can do that here. Type in your order number and the email address you used when buying the item. Once you enter those details, you’ll see a page where you can choose which items you want to return and why. You can also choose if you want to return it for a refund or if you want to exchange the item. From there, use the preprinted return label provided on your order invoice or the return label that is emailed to you after submitting your return. Print it out, stick it onto a package, and take it to a USPS location. Then you’re done!

But know that returning things by mail will cost you $7.

If you return something to Abercrombie through the mail, they will charge you a return shipping and handling fee of $7. This gets deducted from your refund or store credit amount. Just keep this in mind before you return something through the mail. If you have a local Abercrombie store by you, it’s free to return things there.

Related: Abercrombie isn’t the only store that charges you for returns — here are the other retailers that have started charging for returns.

Exceptions to the Abercrombie Return Policy:

Merchandise bought in store cannot be returned online.

If you bought something from Abercrombie in the store, you cannot return it through the mail. Instead, you have to return it at an Abercrombie store. The plus side here is that it’s free to return things in store (versus the $7 you’ll pay for returns through the mail).

You need to have your receipt to return something, otherwise you won’t get a refund.

Always be sure to have your Abercrombie receipt, invoice, or order number on hand if you want to return something. Abercrombie cannot accept returns or exchanges without it.

What to Know About Abercrombie Refunds:

You’ll get your refund within 10 days if you return an item in the store.

If you return something to an Abercrombie store, you can expect to see the refund on your card within 10 days. If you do not see your refund on your card within 10 days, reach out to customer service for support. They will be able to track down why you haven’t gotten your refund and when you should expect it.

It takes over three weeks to get a refund if you return something via mail.

If you shipped something back to Abercrombie, it will take over three weeks for your refund to hit your original payment method. This is because the item has to get to the Abercrombie warehouse. From there, they will refund you within 10 days. (So expect about one month before you see your refund.)
