And like the Wendy’s Boo Books , purchases of the tag benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption — a nonprofit dedicated to finding homes for children waiting in foster care in the United States and Canada.
Each tag is predicted to cost $3 in 2025, which is cheaper than buying just two Jr. Frostys. Yep. Use it twice, and it’s paid for itself. There’s no limit to how many Key Tags you can purchase, so these make a great gift to treat coworkers, neighbors, or friends while giving back to the community.

Wendy’s Frosty Key Tags get you free Jr. Frostys for a year.
What is a Wendy’s Frosty Key Tag? It’s your ticket to a free 6-ounce Jr. Frosty every time you make a Wendy's purchase during the next calendar year. You'll pay a flat amount to get your Key Tag now, and get a free Jr. Frosty with every purchase for the following 365 days.
In 2023 and 2024, the Frosty Key Tag was $3. We're predicting the same price in 2025.
KCL predicts the Wendy's Frosty Key Tags will be available on Dec. 8.
Each year, the Frosty Key Tags arrive in early December and are on sale through mid-February. Based on prior years, we predict you'll be able to buy a Key Tag starting Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, through Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
The Key Tags are valid through the end of the next calendar year — if you purchase one this year, it'll be valid to use as many times as you'd like through Dec. 31, 2026.
KCL TIP: In 2024, for every $3 Key Tag sold, $2.55 went directly to the Dave Thomas Foundation, helping find safe, permanent, and loving homes for children in foster care. We expect the same donation amount in 2025.
Purchase a Frosty Key Tag from your cashier or through the Wendy's app.
Wendy’s Frosty Key Tags are available in stores and in the Wendy's app. You can purchase a physical Key Tag in person or a digital Key Tag through your Wendy’s Rewards account.
You're limited to one digital Key Tag, but you can get unlimited physical Key Tags.
You can purchase as many physical Key Tags as you’d like, but digital Key Tags are limited to one per Wendy’s Rewards account. (You can also buy the Key Tags in bulk via the Dave Thomas Foundation website.)
You can't use a physical Key Tag for Wendys.com orders or a digital Key Tag for in-person orders.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use your physical Key Tag for your Wendys.com orders or your digital Key Tag for your in-person purchases. But you could buy one of each to cover your bases.
Use your physical Wendy's Frosty Key Tag as soon as you purchase it — but you may have to wait to use your digital Key Tag.
If you want to get your free Frosty immediately, be sure to get a physical card. You can use it as soon as you get your paws on it. But if you get a digital version, you may need to wait up to an hour for it to load into your Wendy's account.
You can use a digital Frosty Key Tag once an hour and a physical one once per visit.
The physical Key Tags can be used once per visit. The digital Key Tag gives you a coupon in the Wendy’s app, and once you use it, you’ll get another coupon about an hour later.
