Now that spring break season is upon us, my family and I can’t stop thinking about this year’s vacations! However, as much as I enjoy planning our trips, I hate all the time that I spend checking each individual booking site in an attempt to find the best deal. Fortunately, those days are a thing of the past with Trivago!
How does it work?
To use Trivago, simply input your destination and travel dates and let Trivago do the work! It searches all of the popular booking sites and brings you all of the available options for your travel dates. I recently used Trivago when looking for a hotel for my upcoming trip to Disneyland. After inputting my dates and location, over 115 hotels immediately came up. Not wanting to sort through all of those, I chose to filter hotels based on price, ratings, and amenities such as wifi, breakfast, and a spa—after all, this is a vacation! The filters, which are located directly under the calendar function, immediately narrowed my search to 10 hotels, all with the amenities that I was looking for. Each hotel then lists the price at each booking site, with the best deal in the largest print. After selecting the deal you’re interested in, Trivago directs you to that site where you can purchase your stay!
What are some of the features this app has?
In addition to simply searching hotels based on your criteria, Trivago uses an integrated map view and can locate hotels closest to your current location. You can also search in multiple currencies and in over 20 languages. However, my favorite feature is reading through some of the 82 million reviews before selecting the perfect hotel. If you’ve ever stayed in a hotel room that had a troubling smell, dirty sheets or, dare I say, something worse, then you know how important reviews can be! In fact, Trivago not only gives each hotel a rating by averaging all of the reviews across the web, but it allows you to filter out hotels with poor reviews.
What makes Trivago better than other sites?
It seems as though every week there’s a new hotel or travel site popping up, but Trivago rises to the top of the list for a variety of reasons. Sure, sites such as Travelocity and Skoosh search hotels in your destination, but Trivago actually compares those prices side by side. This allows you to view the price at each booking site for the same hotel on the same dates all on one screen. Because of this, Trivago boasts that their users save an average of 35% when booking hotels! In addition to simply saving, Trivago’s streamlined interface makes it one of the easiest sites to navigate. And if you’re looking for advice, Trivago even has a blog in which they showcase different hotels, destinations and offer travel tips and trends.
What devices does it work on?
The Trivago app, which is free to download and use, is available for Apple and Android devices. However, if you don’t have a smartphone you can still get in on the Trivago action by using Trivago.com. The website offers all of the same features as the app, but also allows users to select multiple hotels and compare them side by side!
