The Home Depot Military Discount: How it Works

Eligible shoppers can use the Home Depot military discount to save on in-store and online purchases. While it can help you score better Home Depot deals, it's not the most black-and-white policy in the world. Here's a little clarification on how it works at Home Depot (and how to enroll).

The Home Depot military discount is 10% off full-priced items.

Active or former military members can use Home Depot's 10% military discount on most in-stock, full-priced items in stores and online. This includes tools, flooring, lawn, garden, seasonal decor, and patio, no matter the brand. You can even use your 10% discount to buy Skelly the Home Depot Skeleton.

The military discount does not apply to Home Depot sale prices, Special Buys, clearance items, installation services, or delivery fees.

  • Air Force

  • Army

  • Coast Guard

  • Marine Corps

  • National Guard

  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

  • Navy

Current spouses of an eligible service member are also eligible to receive the discount (even Gold Star spouses).

Apply your military discount on eligible purchases up to $4,000 per calendar year — a max savings of $400.

Home Depot caps your yearly savings at $400 for the military discount, which means you can apply your military discount to a maximum of $4,000 in eligible purchases per calendar year. The clock resets each Jan. 1.

It doesn't matter if you use the discount all at once or spread it out over the course of the year — once you hit $400 in savings, you can't apply the military discount until the next year.
