1. Buy Floor Samples
You can often purchase the floor samples of items displayed in Pottery Barn stores for about 50 percent off retail price. Since floor samples are technically “used,” make sure you inspect the floor sample for any scratches, scuff marks, or other damage before you purchase it (floor sample purchases are usually final sale). At some Pottery Barn stores, different floor samples are available for sale intermittently throughout the year. Other Pottery Barn stores will have an official floor sample sale when the current merchandise in the stores is being switched out for new merchandise.
2. Shop at the Pottery Barn Outlet
There are currently eight Pottery Barn Outlets in the U.S.: Riverhead, NY (631.369.7699), Lancaster, PA (717.290.2809), Gaffney, SC (864.206.0117), Dawsonville, GA (706.216.6456), Memphis, TN (901.818.9770), Jeffersonville, OH (740.948.2004), San Marcos, TX (512.805.1002), and Birch Run, MI (989.624.6092). These outlet stores stock both Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids products, and the products can either be overstocks or products purchased specifically for the outlet stores. The Pottery Barn Outlet typically discounts products between 10 and 50 percent off retail price. All furniture sales at the Pottery Barn Outlet are final sale and can’t be returned, so make sure you inspect your desired items for damage before purchasing them.
3. Find lower-priced items at Pottery Barn Kids and PB Teen that are similar to Pottery Barn items
There is furniture sold at Pottery Barn Kids and PB Teen that looks very similar to the furniture sold at the grown-up Pottery Barn. However, the prices for these items tend to be significantly lower at Pottery Barn Kids/PB Teen than at the “adult” Pottery Barn. For example, the Pottery Barn Teen Hampton Classic Bed ($599.00 + $75.00 s/h for a Queen Bed) is very similar to the Pottery Barn Farmhouse Bed ($1299.00 + $150.00 s/h for a Queen Bed), but it’s less than half the price.
4. Shop for Pottery Barn look-alikes at lower-priced retailers
You can find look-alikes/knockoffs of Pottery Barn decor and furniture at lower-priced retailers such as Target, World Market, Pier 1 Imports, IKEA, Overstock.com, and Kirklands.com. For example, the Pottery Barn Comfort Slipcovered Armchair ($1199.00 + $65.00) looks just like the IKEA Ektorp Chair ($249.00 + $99.00 s/h). For more Pottery Barn knockoffs, check out some of the Pottery Barn knockoff furniture articles such as this one in the Knockout Knockoffs section here on KCL. Also, check out the blog Pottery Barn Look-Alikes (this blog is not officially associated with Pottery Barn), which frequently has posts about Pottery Barn look-alikes.
5. Open a Pottery Barn Credit Card
If you open a Pottery Barn Credit Card, you will get a 5 percent rebate on the first purchase you make with the Card. Also, when you use your Pottery Barn Credit Card to shop at Pottery Barn or any Pottery brand store (i.e. PB Teen, Williams Sonoma), you’ll earn one point for every dollar you spend with your Card. For every 250 points you earn, you’ll receive a $25 rewards certificate to use at any Pottery Barn brand store. Cardholders will also receive special, exclusive offers throughout the year such as double rewards points days. Keep in mind that the Pottery Barn Credit Card has a high APR (22.80%); as such, only sign up for this Card if you are confident that you will be able to pay your full card balance each month.

This discount can be used an unlimited number of times for up to six months from your celebration date. After your celebration date, you can participate in Pottery Barn’s Completion Program discount, by signing into your registry and selecting “Completion Program” from the top navigation. Here you will find more information on the program and a link that allows you to apply the 10 percent discount to your purchase.
9. Get a Price Adjustment
Pottery Barn offers customers a one-time price adjustment for items marked down within 30 days of the purchase date. You must have your original receipt for the item to get a price adjustment. Since Pottery Barn stores have a different price structure than the Pottery Barn catalog or online orders, you can’t do price adjustments between the two. For a price adjustment on a catalog or online order, contact Customer Service at 1.888.779.5176 within 30 days of the purchase date. For in-store purchases, bring your original receipt to the store within 30 days of the purchase date.
10. Buy discounted Pottery Barn gift cards
Buy discounted Pottery Barn gift cards for typically 5-15 percent off their face value on sites such as Plastic Jungle, Cardpool.com, GiftCards.com, and Raise.com. If you don’t see any discounted Pottery Barn gift cards for sale on these sites, keep checking back because the inventory on these sites is constantly changing.
11. Shop online using Upromise
12. Get a job at Pottery Barn and use your employee discount
