If you haven’t downloaded any rebate apps yet, do it now! I’ve been using several of these apps and they’re truly my favorite way to earn extra money and rewards by shopping online. Whenever Im about to make purchases for groceries, clothing or almost anything else, I check my rebate apps and tools for offers. I’ve received 4% cash back at Kohl’s using SavingStar, earned $10.00 back after buying TOMS shoes with Ibotta, and scored an Amazon gift card when I shopped online using Swagbucks.

Using these rebate tools for your online purchases is easy, and the savings add up. Each app is a little different when it comes to what they offer. Some require you to perform a task and take a quick survey prior to submitting a receipt. On other apps, all you do is shop online, check out, and the app does the rest. In all of the apps, once you accumulate a specific amount of rebates, users receive money back as cash or gift cards. Awesome, right?! Here are a few of my favorite rebate apps that I use when I make online purchases.

1. Ibotta

I’m a big fan of the rebate app Ibotta. Recently, I cashed in $50.00 worth of accumulated rebates and had the choice of cash via PayPal, Venmo, or a gift card. New offers for products are featured in Ibotta’s app at least a couple of times a week. Right now there’s a $10.00 rebate offer on the purchase of any TOMS shoe purchase over $75.00. To get this $10.00 rebate, you must click through Ibotta to the TOMS website and make your purchase there. Open up the rebate offer on the Ibotta app, unlock the two tasks, and buy whichever style of TOMS shoes you want as long as the total is $75.00 or more in a single transaction. Then, once Ibotta receives confirmation from TOMS, they’ll give you the $10.00 rebate in your choice of cash or gift cards.

2. RetailMeNot

This tool offers promotional codes and coupons for thousands of online stores. Pull up your favorite store and RetailMeNot will provide a list of all current offers and promo codes for that particular retailer. I shop Target.com frequently and as we all know, they already have a large number of deals there. The only problem is, it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. Now when I go to Target.com, I check RetailMeNot to see what offers are currently valid. When I find the promo code I want, I copy the code and paste it into the appropriate field on the checkout page. The discount is automatically deducted from my total. It only takes about two minutes and I always save on my order. When I can save in seconds, you can know that I’m going to continue using this rebate app!

3. SavingStar

SavingStar features eCoupons for grocery stores and discount offers for online stores. When I shop online, I simply select the store I want and choose “shop now.” I’ll be redirected to the retailer’s website. From there, I make whatever purchases I want and check out. That’s all I have to do! I’m a frequent shopper at Kohl’s, so this week I took advantage of the 4% cash-back offer. My purchases totaled $100.00 and I received $4.00 back. That’s like getting a free lunch! The savings will automatically be added to my SavingStar account within 10 days. Once the credit is in my account, I can cash out. (The minimum cash-out amount is $5.00.) I can then opt for payment through PayPal, receive a gift card, or I can even elect to donate my rebate to a charity.

4. Swagbucks

Swagbucks has been around for a while and although its users don’t get rich overnight, they do accumulate pretty good rewards over time. It’s an online rebate tool that offers virtual currency that can later be traded in for cash and gift cards. Users who participate in a variety of tasks like voting in polls, taking surveys or shopping, can earn “Swagbucks.” These Swagbucks are equal to one cent. When a user earns enough points—for example, 450 Swagbucks—they can purchase rewards like a $5.00 Amazon gift card. If you shop at Walmart or Kohl’s, you can earn two Swagbucks for every dollar you spend there. If you have a large family like I do, you’ll see how quickly Swagbucks can add up! Who wouldn’t want to get rewarded for shopping?!

Using rebate apps and tools are definitely one of my favorite ways to save when shopping online. Begin by downloading one (or visit the rebate site) and get to know how it works. Once you’re familiar with it, download more apps, and in no time you’ll be enjoying the rewards of cash back and gift cards.
