The best way to save big on your next Target run is to earn free Target gift cards to use on the things you may not have extra money for. There’s plenty of ways to do this, like using rebate apps and even taking surveys.
So if you have time but you’re short on money, you have to check this out.
Looking for more ways to save? Make sure you download the official KCL app.
1. Get free gift cards for certain Target purchases.
The best way to grab free Target gift cards is by taking advantage of gift card deals. I see them all the time in the Target Weekly Ad. Best-case scenario is when you find Target’s gift card promos on items you’re already planning to buy.
Most of these deals are pretty simple, like “Buy 2 Tide laundry detergent, get a $5 gift card.” But one of the best I ever saw was in December 2020, when they offered a $350 gift card when you buy a new iPhone 11.
Offers rotate frequently, so make sure to keep an eye on all the Target deals.
2. Download Shopkick and earn “kicks” you can redeem for Target gift cards.
You can earn “kicks” or points a few different ways with Shopkick: Walk into certain stores, scan barcodes of certain products (even if you’re not buying them), submit your store receipt, and refer friends. You’ll also get kicks for every purchase you make with a linked credit card.
Roughly 250 kicks equals $1 cash back, and you can cash out once you’ve earned 500 kicks. Here’s a breakdown of kicks per dollar:
- 500 kicks = $2
- 1,250 kicks = $5
- 2,500 kicks = $10
- 6,250 kicks = $25
Target gift cards aren’t always available on the app, but when they’re not, you can still shop at Target to earn kicks.
3. Take a picture of your receipt, and upload it to Fetch Rewards for free Target gift cards.
There are two ways to earn points with Fetch Rewards — you can earn by buying certain brands from any store, shopping for specific products featured in the app, or referring friends. To earn points, just take a picture of your receipt through the Fetch Rewards app.
Right now, you can grab a $3 Target gift card for 3,500 points. To put that in perspective, you get 4,000 points for referring a new user.
4. Take surveys in your spare moments to earn free Target gift cards.
Okay, so you’re not gonna get rich taking surveys, and it’ll never be a substitute for a part-time job.
But the reason we take them is because in our spare time we earn pennies that add up to dollars. Waiting for dinner to cook? Take a survey. Waiting for your kids to finish soccer/piano lessons/dance? Take a survey.
There are tons of little moments throughout the day that you can use to earn a few points that add up to Target gift cards.
Here are some of our favorite survey sites:
5. You can’t get free Target gift cards for returning old electronics anymore.
The Target Tech Trade-In Program is unfortunately a thing of the past. The program gave you free gift cards for trading in electronics from video games and smartphones to tablets and wearables. But, I learned from a Target associate that we should expect a replacement program by September 2021.
