Walgreens Lesson 1: Getting Started in 3 Easy Steps

The Krazy Coupon Lady is an ad-supported service. Many offers on our site contain affiliate links, and we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase using them. Some posts are sponsored by the maker of the product, and we receive a fee for the post. See our full advertiser disclosure.

Our mission is to help you save money, and that starts with identifying popular retailers who offer an assortment of products and different ways to maximize your shopping spend. Enter Walgreens, which traditionally has been thought of as just a drugstore. But Walgreens actually offers ways to save big bucks on everyday essentials, from beauty products and body wash to laundry and even groceries. Sometimes you can even pick up products like toothpaste and makeup for free!

The key is learning how to combine coupons, promotions, and sales (we call that stacking — more on that later). Make finding coupons easy with The Krazy Coupon Lady coupon database, or check out the KCL app to learn how to find coupons, keep track of all the coupons you need each week in MyList, and show you simple deal breakdowns at your favorite stores.

Whether you’re new to couponing or just looking to level up your savings game, the experts at Krazy Coupon Lady have spent years figuring out how to make couponing at Walgreens easy.  We'll walk you through everything you need to get started in three simple steps. From using digital coupons and spend boosters, to mastering Register Rewards and Walgreens Cash, we'll help turn your shopping trip into a total win.

1. Download the Walgreens app and The Krazy Coupon Lady App.

To start couponing at Walgreens, you’ll need the Walgreens mobile app (download it here). Use it to see weekly ads, store locations, sales and promotions, and digital coupons, plus pay for your items online with store pickup (You can also access the Walgreens ad and coupons on a web browser if needed.)

You'll also want the KCL app. The free Krazy Coupon Lady app takes the guesswork out of couponing and makes saving at Walgreens simple. Use it to check out the Walgreens weekly deal matchup, which publishes each Saturday. We take the Walgreens weekly ad and find the best deals for you, along with matching coupons. And see our Walgreens deal breakdowns, telling you exactly what to buy and what coupons to use.

2. Sign up for a free myWalgreens membership.

A free myWalgreens account (sign up here) is essential because it gives you access to sale prices, digital coupons, promotions, and 1% - 5% Walgreens Cash back on your purchases. Plus, you'll have access to store pickup and delivery options if you're not shopping in-store.

3. Clip Walgreens coupons and earn rewards.

It’s important to know that Walgreens has two separate reward systems: Walgreens Cash and Register Rewards. You earn these by spending a specific amount of money or buying specific products. After earning rewards, you can use them to help pay for future purchases at Walgreens. You can even earn rewards in one transaction, and then use those to pay for your second transaction, all during one shopping trip (that's called rolling).

Walgreens Cash

Walgreens Cash is a virtual rewards system that's like store credit. You can earn and spend it both online and in-store, and it’s automatically linked to your myWalgreens account. Once you've earned it, Walgreens Cash can only be redeemed in these specific amounts on future transactions: $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10, $20, or $50.

Register Rewards

Register Rewards are printed coupons given to you at checkout to use on a future transaction. They can only be used in-store and are valid for one use. They're not linked to your myWalgreens account, so if you lose them, they're gone.

Walgreens Coupons

You can load digital coupons to your myWalgreens account inside the Walgreens app (or using a web browser). Walgreens coupons are meant to be added to your account by tapping them in the app or clicking them on the website. Forgot to clip your Walgreens digital coupons before shopping? Use the app's barcode scanner to check for available coupons valid on specific products while you're shopping in-store.

Spend Boosters

Spend boosters are offers from Walgreens that give you rewards (usually as Walgreens Cash) for spending a certain amount. They can be digital or paper and are only valid for certain dates. They can have varying requirements so always read the terms.
