If the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, or PlayStation 5 is on your holiday or Black Friday shopping list, the good news is you’re shopping at one of the best times to score games, consoles, and accessories for less than you’d pay the rest of the year.

The catch? Everyone else is shopping for these during Black Friday, too. Search traffic for Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation is never higher than it is during the holidays — but we’re here to help.

Follow these tips to beat the crowds and save at least 25 – 60% on all gaming things this Black Friday.

Of course, deals are a lot easier to find when you use cheats — aka, the KCL app. Download the app so you can start receiving messages as soon as video game sales go live.

1. Use your Target RedCard for early Black Friday sale access and save $75 on a Nintendo Switch bundle.

Nintendo doesn’t tend to have any crazy coupon or discount deals on consoles during Black Friday. Instead, they make the deals hot by bundling the console with other products. Think of it as a way to score a free game.

For example, last year you could get the Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for $299.99 (Nintendo Switch retail price) pretty much anywhere. But Target RedCard holders — who get early access to Black Friday sales — were also able to enjoy an additional 5% savings.

Buy 1 Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle $299.99, regular price
Use RedCard for 5% off
Free shipping on orders of $35+
Final Price: $284.99

2. Buy Kohl’s Xbox or Playstation bundles $135 – $160 off regular price.

Last year Kohl’s, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart all slashed Xbox One and PlayStation prices by $90 on Black Friday. Although it was $20 more for a bundle from Kohl’s, this was still the best deal, because they added Kohl’s Cash — at least $100-worth — to your bundle.

It was a way to make your console purchase pay for some free clothes.

Buy 1 PlayStation 5 Console Bundle with Extra DualSense Controller + Spider-Man Ultimate Edition $639.99, regular price
Spend $50, receive $15 Kohl’s Cash
Spend $100, receive $5 Kohl’s Rewards

3. Save 50 – 60% on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo games on BestBuy.com.

In 2020, Best Buy launched their Black Friday sale online a full week ahead of their in-store Black Friday event. We saw games like Madden and Donkey Kong: Country on sale for $30 off.

But I’m still geeking out about when I took home Marvel’s Spider-Man (Game of the Year edition) for PlayStation at 63% off.

Buy 1 Marvel’s Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 (reg. $39.99) $14.99, sale price
Free shipping
Final Price: $14.99

4. Save $75 on pre-owned games during GameStop’s Black Friday sale.

GameStop’s pre-owned section is always a great resource, with deals on games as high as 70% off. But they step it up during Black Friday. In 2020, GameStop ran a Buy 2, Get 1 Free promotion on pre-owned games, and we jumped on that to save $74.99

Buy 1 Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Game (reg. $29.99 – $59.99), sale price $13.99 – $29.99
Buy 2 pre-owned games, get 1 free
Buy 1 NBA 2K20 for PlayStation (reg. $29.99), sale price $13.99
Buy 1 Red Dead Redemption II for Playstation (reg. $59.99), sale price $24.99
Buy 1 Overwatch Origins (re.g $29.99), sale price $19.99
Get the cheapest video game for free
Final Price: $44.98
Compare to $119.97 at full-price

5. But skip GameStop’s pre-owned console selection.

Although GameStop has taken $50 off pre-owned Xbox and PlayStation consoles during Black Friday, finding them in stock is often an issue. Nintendo Switches don’t go much lower than $15 off of the regular price.

Point is: We’ll be looking to save $75 or more with the bundles we highlighted above.

6. Don’t spend the extra $50 on Nintendo’s new OLED Switch model.

Nintendo released their new OLED Switch (reg. $349.99) in Oct. 2021, and predictably, it’s been flying off the shelves. But if you’re looking to bring home a Switch console during Black Friday, then you might be better off buying the regular model.

Look at what $50 gets you with the Nintendo’s OLED Switch. It includes more memory space, a bigger screen with better resolution, plus a few technical upgrades that won’t make a major difference if you just need a family gaming system. That’s the list.

Meanwhile the normal Switch retails at $299.99 — or even cheaper during Black Friday — it runs the same exact games, has the same battery life, and it’s regularly in stock.

So take a breath, let everyone else fight over the OLED model, and enjoy your Nintendo Switch.

7. Keep $20 – $30 in your pocket and buy used Nintendo controllers on Facebook Marketplace.

I’ve bought a Nintendo Switch Pro controller in good condition for $40 through Facebook Marketplace. That’s $30 off the regular price! And it’s $13 cheaper than refurbished Pro controllers from GameStop.

I made my purchase from a local seller, which meant I avoided shipping costs, too.

8. Save more than $20 on Xbox and PlayStation controllers at Target or Game Stop.

Controllers were also discounted pretty similarly at each big box retailer during the Black Friday sales, but thanks to an automatic 5% additional savings using Target’s RedCard, Target tied with Game Stop.

Buy 1 Sony Playstation 4 Controller (reg. $59.99) $39.99, sale price
Save 5% with RedCard
Free shipping on orders of $35+
Final Price: $37.99, a 37% savings
Compare to GameStop (reg. $59.99), $38 sale price

Buy 1 Xbox Series X Wireless Controller, Black (reg. $59.99) $39.99 sale price
Use RedCard for 5% off
Free shipping on orders of $35+
Final Price: $37.99
Compare to GameStop (reg. $59.99), $38 sale price

9. Trade in old consoles at GameStop for $100 – $200 store credit.

If you’re looking to upgrade your gaming console or are done with a game, then GameStop’s trade-in system is a great way to save money on your next gaming purchase.

Best Buy does trade-ins as well, but your return is much less than what you could get from GameStop. A Nintendo Switch, for example, will net you $175 in store credit from GameStop, but Best Buy will only give a $70 Best Buy gift card for the same system.
