The good news is that Black Friday is one of the best times to score a console/game bundle deal, take advantage of console restocks and find discounts on games. Of course, deals are a lot easier to find with the right tools — aka, the KCL app. Download The Krazy Coupon Lady mobile app and set up deal alerts for Nintendo and PlayStation. We’ll give you a heads-up any time a great deal drops.

1. Plan to jump on ANY available Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals.
Nintendo Switch inventory on Black Friday goes faster than you can drive a Mario Kart. For that reason, you have to balance the price you’re willing to pay with the fact that you might miss out if you don’t act fast.
Over the years, the best deals I’ve seen are on Nintendo Switch bundles that include a console, a few controllers, a game pass, or other comparable add-ons. It’s typical for different retailers to sell different Nintendo Switch bundles, making them difficult to compare side by side. Even so, you don’t have a lot of time to deliberate, since stock runs out so fast.

2. Shop Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals at Target and save 5%.
Nintendo doesn’t usually have any crazy coupons or discounts on consoles during Black Friday, which is why you’ll want to watch for a bundle deal.
In 2022, we saw the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Neon Blue/Red + Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for $299.99 (Nintendo Switch retail price) pretty much everywhere. But Target RedCard members were able to enjoy an additional 5% off at Target. Here’s how the savings shook out:
- Up to 40% off all refurbished gaming
- Elden Ring – Xbox Series X/Xbox One, $39.99 (reg. $59.99), 33% off
- Halo: Infinite – Xbox Series X, Xbox One, $19.99 (reg. $59.99), 67% savings
- Red Dead Redemption 2 – Xbox One, $19.99 (reg. $59.99), 67% savings
3. Switches may not be on sale, but Switch accessories are.
If you’re planning on gifting the console to little ones, you’ll want to ensure that their Switch is protected as much as possible from potential falls and scratches. And if you plan on traveling, particularly by air, a good case will keep it safe in your carry-on. Luckily many much-needed accessories like protective shells, screen protectors, and carrying cases are on sale for Black Friday. Here are some of the best accessory deals we found in 2022:
- Hybrid System Armor, $23.14 at Target (reg. $28.99)
- Cover with Shock-Absorption and Anti-Scratch Protective Case, $7.99 at Amazon (reg. $17.99)
- GeekShare Protective Case, $13.09 at Walmart (reg. $15.09)
- Power Theory Screen Protector, $11.42 at Amazon (reg. $18.45)
- TJS [2 Pack] Screen Protector Tempered Glass, $6.99 at Walmart (reg. $7.95)
- Insten Carrying Case with 10 Game Card Holder Slots, $16.99 at Target (reg. $26.99)
- Daydayup Switch Carrying Case, $13.59 at Amazon (reg. $25.99)
- RDS Industries Deluxe Travel Carrying Case, $14.99 at Walmart (reg. $19.99)
4. Don’t spend the extra $50 on Nintendo’s OLED Switch model.
Nintendo released their new OLED Switch (regularly $349.99) in October 2021, and it flew off the shelves. But if you’re looking for Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals, you’re better off buying the regular model.
Look at what $50 gets you with the Nintendo OLED Switch: more memory space, a bigger screen with better resolution, plus a few technical upgrades that won’t make a major difference if you just need a family gaming system. But that’s the list.
Meanwhile, the normal Nintendo Switch retails at $299.99 — or even cheaper on Black Friday — and runs the same exact games, and has the same battery life.
So take a breath, let everyone else fight over the OLED model, and enjoy your Nintendo Switch.
5. Look for PlayStation Black Friday deals at Walmart.
The PlayStation 5 has been in high demand since it dropped, with many shoppers needing an invite to purchase a console. The console was pretty hard to find in 2022. During Black Friday, Walmart had the PlayStation 5 Console and God of War Ragnarok Bundle for $200 above the list price of $559. If shoppers couldn’t get their hands on the bundle, they would have to prepare to pay $702 for just the console.

6. Stock up on Nintendo and PlayStation games when they reach 75% off.
We saw some great discounts on video games during Target’s Cyber Monday sale. In fact, savings reached up to 75%. During Black Friday, we found discounts on Switch and PS4 games up to 50% and anxiously waited for even better deals when Target dropped their Cyber Monday ad. Amazon also offered similar deals.
7. Skip GameStop’s pre-owned video game console selection.
Although GameStop usually takes $50 off pre-owned PlayStation consoles during Black Friday, finding them in stock is often impossible. During Black Friday 2022, all PS5 models were sold out online, though it was possible to locate a console at some neighborhood locations. You couldn’t find a Nintendo Switch for much lower than $15 off its regular price, though.
If you’re in the market for a gaming console in 2023, keep your sights set on a console bundle and you’ll get your money’s worth.
8. Keep $20 – $30 in your pocket and buy used Nintendo controllers on Facebook Marketplace.
In the past, I’ve bought a Nintendo Switch Pro controller in good condition for $40 through Facebook Marketplace. That’s $30 off the regular price! And it’s $13 cheaper than refurbished Pro controllers from GameStop.
I made my purchase from a local seller, which meant I avoided shipping costs, too. All I had to do was pick it up and pay.
9. Trade in old consoles at GameStop for up to $120 in store credit.
If you’re looking to upgrade your console or you’re done with a video game, GameStop’s trade-in system is a great way to save money on your next purchase.
Best Buy does trade-ins as well, but the return is much less than what you’ll get from GameStop. A Nintendo Switch, for example, will net you up to $120 in store credit from GameStop, but Best Buy will only give a $70 Best Buy gift card for the same trade-in.
