Procter & Gamble sells loads of commodity items. These are items every household needs, like laundry detergent and toilet paper. But now, P&G is raising prices on most of these products.
If you’re feeling the pinch in your budget already, this is not good news. But before you ditch Tide and adopt generic store laundry detergent in an act of despair, we’ve got a few ideas to help you counteract this price hike.

P&G is raising prices on the products you’re buying. Why?
Citing increased labor, transportation, and raw materials costs, Procter & Gamble announced last week that it’s raising prices on some products. P&G hopes to avoid losing money as they pay for the higher cost of production.
Tide detergent and Downy fabric softener will increase in price on February 28.
Expect Tide and Downy, along with other P&G fabric care brands to be hit first. P&G has not said what sort of price increase to expect, but the company recently saw a 6% quarterly sales increase. Half of that was due to price increases.

In addition to paying more for your P&G laundry care, expect to pay more for other P&G product categories, beginning mid-April:

- Skin care (OIay, Secret, Ivory, etc.)
