August is still technically summer, but as far as our taste buds are concerned, it’s fall — or, maybe just Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte season.
Believe it or not, this is the time of year when the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte returns — along with a bunch of other favorite fall flavors.
Here’s what’s headed our way:
When does Pumpkin Spice come back to Starbucks?
Starbucks has been releasing their famous PSL on the last Tuesday in August since 2018 — except in 2021, when they released it on the second-to-last Tuesday.
And in 2022, the PSL relaunches on Tuesday, Aug. 30 — the latest launch since 2017.
Here are the PSL release dates from the last seven years:
- 2021: Tuesday, Aug. 24
- 2020: Tuesday, Aug. 25
- 2019: Tuesday, Aug. 27
- 2018: Tuesday, Aug. 28
- 2017: Friday, Sept. 1
- 2016: Tuesday, Sept. 6
- 2015: Tuesday, Sept. 8
The PSL typically costs between $5 and $6 — but you can get it for free.
Make sure you sign up for Starbucks Rewards. You get your first drink free, and then you earn two stars for every $1 you spend at Starbucks.
Once you earn 150 stars (spend $75), get a free handcrafted drink — which includes the Pumpkin Spice Latte and the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. You also get a freebie on your birthday.
That’s like getting 8% back. If you want to boost your savings, split a Venti (20 ounces) and share it with someone (get an extra cup). If you do that instead of ordering two Tall PSLs, you’ll save roughly $3.25 — although prices vary by location.
Here are even more easy Starbucks menu hacks that’ll help you get your coffee fix for cheaper.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is more expensive this year.
Unfortunately, not even the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is immune to the Starbucks price increases. This year, a Starbucks PSL will cost you 4% more than last year, which means for a Grande, you’ll be paying $5.45 to $5.95 depending on your location.
The Starbucks fall menu will introduce a new Owl Cake Pop to go with your Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.
The Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is a staple of the season, but that’s not the only limited item available on the Starbucks fall menu.
The Starbucks 2022 fall menu includes a brand-new Owl Cake Pop, which is a vanilla cake pop covered in purple colored chocolate icing decorated to look like an owl, and an updated version the the Apple Crisp Macchiato which includes the dairy-free oatmilk.
Here’s the full Starbucks Fall 2022 menu:
- Pumpkin Spice Latte
- Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew
- Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato
