Although they've never claimed to be a budget-friendly coffee option, Starbucks prices have gotten a little bit out of control, IMO. A tall coffee increased from $1.95 to $2.15 in 2018 and now in 2024, you'll pay $2.65. To meet the demand for more cost-effective options, the coffee chain launched Starbucks Pairings on June 11, 2024.
The Starbucks Pairings include two items — one drink, one food item — priced at $5 or $6. You can upgrade sizes or food options for an addition charge, but overall these pairings save you between 14% - 35%.
This is the first time in recent years that we'll see Starbucks deals on food. In fact, the first time they did a discounted pairing (tall coffee or latte with a breakfast item) was back in February 2009 at a $3.95 price tag. We didn't see another one until Valentine's Day in February 2015. Currently, the Starbucks offers and promotions we often see focus on their handcrafted drinks (like the fan-fave BOGO free Starbucks).

What are Starbucks Pairings?
In late May, we saw Starbucks promotional materials for June on Starbucks Reddit and TikTok that showed a Starbucks Pairings launch schedule for Tuesday, June 11, 2024. These Starbucks Pairings include a tall coffee or tea (iced or hot) and a food item at a discounted price.
You'll select a drink and then a breakfast item. The butter croissant is the only $5 food item we've seen so far. But, you'll see four breakfast sandwich options for the $6 pairings.
Note that prices will vary by location. The prices listed in this post are from a Starbucks outside of Pittsburgh in Washington, PA.

The Best Starbucks Pairings Value: Tall Iced Coffee and a Butter Croissant
What's the best value pairing based on these prices? A tall iced coffee and a butter croissant for $5. At my local store, this pairing regularly costs $7.70. At the $5 price, I'd save $2.70 or 35.1%.
The next best value is a tall iced coffee with a Chicken, Maple Butter, and Egg Breakfast Sandwich. Regularly $8.70, this pairing costs you $6 — a savings of 34.7%.
Tip: If you don't want to stick to the same pairing, you'll save the most by pairing a tall iced coffee with any of the breakfast sandwiches — each of these pairings saves you at least 31%.
