1. Daily Money Saving With Just One Digit

This TikTok hack might actually be one of the easiest, no-brainer money-saving tips. All you have to do is remember to complete a daily transfer and BOOM — you have savings. Every single day. TikTok user @budgetbrojoe shows how simply transferring the last digit of your total balance can make a huge difference in your savings account.

In the video, he shows how you can save up to $24 per week without a thought. After 52 weeks at the same pace, he’d have over $1,200.

2. The Paper Towel TikTok Hack You Have To See To Believe

If you live in a home with children or pets (or both), you probably use your fair share of paper towels. And by “fair share,” we mean “your body weight inside of a week.” All you need for this TikTok money-saving hack is a roll of paper towels and a very, very sharp kitchen knife. Trust the process according to TikTok user @shessunday.

As far as money-saving deals go, let’s see if this TikTok hack is legit or not. For example, if you go through about four paper towel rolls per week, you’ll spend about $17.14 every two weeks at Walmart for the Great Value double-roll pack of 12. If this hack doubles the life of one single roll, your family can save $8.57 per week or $34.28 per month.

3. Avoid Buying Prepacked Foods and Save Money

Now, this is at the top of our favorite supermarket money-saving tips — did you know that prepackaged produce can usually cost more than individually bagged produce items? This UK-based TikTokker breaks it down.

@m182729

Dont buy pre packed food. Always get the loose option and save 50% in this case. #foodie #costofliving #costoflivingcrisis #savemoney #supermarkethack #shopsmart #enoughisenough #asda #moneysavinghacks #moneysavingtips

If you check Walmart online, you’ll see that a bag of three mixed peppers is listed at $3.37. Purchase three individual green peppers; they’re listed at $0.83 — that’s $2.49 for three. Prices for individual items vary at each grocery store, so be sure to check prepackaged prices vs. individual prices and also the weight of each item.

4. The $5 Bill Money Saving Challenge

We live in a mostly cashless society, which has its pros (convenience) and cons (convenience). But this $5 bill challenge is so easy; it sounds too good to be true — except it isn’t. TikTok user @diosajas explains how she saved $1600 in just three months by doing this.

You can also do it with $1 bills since it’s probably more likely you’ll come across those as opposed to $5 bills. Or for a real money-saving hack, you can do it with both.

5. 8-Week Money Saving Challenge

If these challenges are your thing and you’re ready to buckle down and get serious (and can afford to do it), you can save $1,000 in just eight weeks. If you break it down by week, it’s $125 per week. Cash it out and toss it aside until you reach your goal, so you’re not tempted to swipe and spend! Or if you get paid biweekly and saving on payday is easier, it’s $250 every two weeks.

I'll be racked up by the end of the year. This the typa shit im on. Should I make more? #moneychallenge #moneysavingtips #moneysavingchallenge #moneysavinghack #moneysaving #moneysavingtip #moneysavingexpert #fyp #foryou #foryoupage

Not everyone can afford to do that, it’s true. But if you can and you like a good challenge, well, this TikTok hack will help you save a grand in just two months.

6. The ‘Savings Ladder’ Money Saving Hack

We all need those dopamine hits that come with impulse buying or when we buy things that bring us any semblance of joy whatsoever. No one should have to live without it, tbh. Times are tough! But here’s a super smart way to reward yourself while saving money at the same time, and TikTok user @jandralee calls it the “savings ladder.”

@jandralee

We've used this tip for almost 8 years, and it's amazing. #financialfeminist #moneysavingtips #savingmoneyhack #savingsladder

♬ original sound – Jandra Sutton

Basically, instead of creating a set savings goal amount, this TikTok money-saving hack makes you find something to save up for that you want (she uses $100 AirPods as an example), and you not only save that amount for that specific thing, but you save two or three times the cost of the item. So you’re rewarding yourself but only after saving up a certain amount first.

7. The Worksheet Money-Saving Method

Speaking of savings that build upon themselves, this method from TikTok user @thetrustedbanker is designed to do just that. If you’re starting out a little more conservative with your savings goals and not too aggressive, this could be just the money-saving hack for you.

@thetrustedbanker

In her example, she uses 30 days as her challenge goal. In those 30 days, she was able to save $465 by using her worksheet where she gave herself that amount of time to save. Each day, you save the same corresponding amount of money — $5 on day 5, $6 on day 6, etc.

8. Brilliant Laundry Detergent Savings Hack

If you buy liquid laundry detergent, you’re going to want to stop right here and take this in because it’s pretty cool! @chixy38 went viral last year for showing the world how to get approximately three to four more loads of laundry out of your “empty” detergent jug. Watch and learn.

@chixy38

You can use her method of popping the top off, or you can heat your own jug for a few seconds with a hair dryer and slice it off — that part is up to you. The detergent savings here, however, is universal. The average cost of one load of laundry is $0.21. If you wash seven loads per week (one load of laundry per day), this hack saves you about $3.36 per month. If the savings for this hack aren’t enticing enough, it’s at least good to know what to do if you’re running low on detergent and can’t make it to the store before washing your next load of clothes.

9. The 100-Day Money-Saving Challenge

Once again, this TikTok money-saving hack requires a large container to hold money (obviously, many of us save best with physical and visual aids). For the 100-Day Savings Challenge, you’ll write a grid of numbers from one to 100. Each day, you get to choose the amount to place into the container and cross it off the grid. You can do any number you like, any day you want. TikTok user @jjosue.xx says he takes care of the larger numbers on the days he gets paid.

@jjosue.xx

Here's a late update! I'm just hoping a hammer will be enough to open the box 😅 #Cash #100DayChallenge #2022Savings #FYP #SavingMoney

♬ Stuck In The Middle – Tai Verdes

A nice big box would work best for this challenge because at the end of the 100 days, you end up saving $5,050 in cash!

10. Processing Your Own Food Doesn’t Save Time, But It Saves Money

In this viral video from TikTok user @savingwhizgina, she talks about (and demonstrates) shredding and packaging her own blocks of cheese for the whole family. Many grocery stores will price their 8-ounce blocks of cheese the same as their 8-ounce bags of already shredded cheese, so you might be wondering, “What’s the hack here?” Allow Gina to explain.

@savingwhizgina

This grocery saving habit helped me save a lot of money! #groceries #groceryshopping #grocerytok #groceryhack #grocerysavings #grocerysavinghack #mealplan #mealprep #batchcook #foodprep #cheese #shreddedcheese #costco #money #moneytok #moneysavingtips

♬ original sound – Gina Zakaria-Money Expert

An 8-ounce bag of pre-shredded cheese = one cup. An 8-ounce block of cheese can shred four cups. And now that we all know we can freeze cheese (which has a decent shelf life in the refrigerator anyway), we know that buying blocks of cheese to shred at home = instant savings. We’ve found that one cup of pre-shredded cheese costs about $2.50. Shredding it yourself reduces the cost to $1 per cup. This is one TikTok money-saving hack we can get behind!
