While the standard Kroger Shopper’s Card is 100% free, you've always had to pay extra for a Kroger Boost membership. That's if you want to get benefits like free Kroger delivery on orders of $35 or more and the ability to earn extra Kroger Fuel Points.
It’s definitely worth signing up for Boost if you order Kroger grocery delivery at least nine times in a year. That’s because with Boost membership, you get unlimited free deliveries on orders of $35 or more, which saves you $7.95 - $10.95 in fees per order.
Now that a price increase went into effect on April 10, 2025, the cheapest Kroger Boost membership will cost you $69 per year (or $8.99 per month) at regular price, depending on the tier you select. But you can save 50% on a new annual membership a few times a year, which we'll explain below. We can also teach you how to save while you shop with our best Kroger couponing tips.

Each year during Boost Bonus Days, you can sign up for a new Kroger Boost membership for 50% off if you clip a digital coupon in your Kroger account. In 2025, we're seeing this offer available from July 9 - 29:
KCL TIP: This 50% off Boost coupon typically comes out one week before the start of Boost Bonus Days, and it always coincides with Amazon Prime Day and Target Circle Week in July.
How Much You'll Pay for Kroger Boost Membership
There are two types of Kroger Boost memberships to choose from, and the main difference is how quickly you’d like your groceries delivered. Signing up for either membership level will require you to get a free Kroger Shopper’s Card account first.
Option 1: Boost Essential — $8.99 per month, or $69 a year
The cheaper of the two Boost memberships (called "Boost Essential") costs $8.99 per month, or $69 per year.
With the basic membership, you get 2x Kroger Fuel Points on your purchases plus free deliveries on orders of $35 or more. But the earliest you can get your delivery is next day. You'll likely need to choose this plan if you don't live near a physical Kroger store, as your deliveries will come from a distribution center.
Every Boost membership also includes a FREE 6-month subscription to one of the following: Hulu (with ads), Disney+ Basic (with ads), or ESPN+. Just activate the benefit in your account.
Sign up for the annual plan vs. the monthly plan to save $38.88 a year.
If you think you’ll use the basic Boost membership for at least a full year, definitely sign up for the annual billing cycle instead of the monthly plan. That's because the monthly plan ($8.99 per month) will end up costing you $107.88 for 12 months — which is $38.88 more than you'd pay with the annual plan.
Option 2: Boost — $12.99 per month, or $99 a year
The more expensive Boost membership costs $12.99 per month, or $99 per year if you pay annually, but it’s not available in all areas (check your ZIP code eligibility on the Kroger website).
Just like with Boost Essential, the upgraded Boost membership gets you 2x Kroger Fuel Points and free streaming subscriptions you can activate in your account. But the difference is that you get free same-day delivery (in as little as two hours).
Sign up for the annual plan vs. the monthly plan to save $56.88 a year.
If you think you’ll use your Boost membership for at least a full year, definitely sign up for the annual billing cycle instead of the monthly plan. That's because the monthly plan ($12.99 per month) will end up costing you $155.88 for 12 months — which is $56.88 more than you'd pay with the annual plan.
KCL TIP: With either level of membership, you typically won’t have to tip your delivery driver, as the deliveries are handled by a Kroger employee. However, in some areas, deliveries are handled by Instacart, so a tip for good service may be expected.
More Ways to Get a Kroger Boost Membership Discount
Look for Boost membership coupons to save $20 - $49.50 on your first year.

From time to time, we see Boost membership deals pop up in the Kroger app (iOS / Android) in the form of digital coupons. If you combine these offers with other savings — like “$10 off delivery orders of $75 or more” — you’ll boost your savings even higher on your first few delivery orders.
Here's when we've most recently seen these offers pop up:
July 9 - 29, 2025 — 50% off Boost Annual membership
May 1 - 6, 2025 — 50% off Boost Annual membership
Nov. 20 - Dec. 4, 2024 — $20 off Boost membership
Sign up for a free 30-day trial to see if you like it first.

If you're not sold on joining yet, you can try out a Kroger Boost membership for free with their 30-day free trial offer. You can cancel your trial anytime before the 30 days ends (just set a reminder in your calendar so you don’t forget).
The only drawback with the free trial is that you won’t be eligible to receive certain exclusive digital coupons and freebies that are offered to regular paid members.
Join when you see exclusive 5x digital deals — these can make up for the cost of your membership fee.
You've gotta do a little "Boost math" for this hack, but here's how it goes. If you sign up for a Boost membership when they're offering member-exclusive grocery deals, you can cash in on the offers to cover your signup costs.
For example, during Boost Customer Appreciation Week (the last one we saw was in September 2024, and another one March 26 - April 1, 2025), a handful of exclusive digital coupons could be used up to five times in a single transaction. This lets you really cash in on the savings on things like lunch meat, sugar, chips, bread, and candy.
"It makes it worthy in that the savings received make up for the cost of the membership," says KCL Kroger couponing expert Sarah V.
Earn a free 1-year Kroger Boost membership if you're approved for their credit card.
If you were thinking about applying for a Kroger credit card anyway, know that if you’re approved, you’ll receive a waiver within 10 days that you can redeem for one free year of Boost Essential membership (worth $59).
You can also choose to upgrade your free membership to the higher tier of Kroger Boost membership (if it’s available in your area) and only pay the difference of $40.
Compared to Target and Walmart, Kroger Boost is still one of the cheapest grocery store memberships around.
Even after the price increases kicked in on April 10, a Kroger Boost Essential membership is still cheaper than either Target Circle 360 or a Walmart Plus membership, which are two paid plans that also offer free delivery to members.
Granted, Target's paid Circle 360 program only recently launched in April 2024, so it hasn't really been around long enough yet to be due for a membership fee increase. Walmart Plus has kept its fees the same since the program launched in 2020.
