Getting a Macy’s price adjustment is one of many great ways to save at Macy’s. After you make a purchase, this policy lets you request a price adjustment if you find a lower price on the exact same item at a later date. Of course, there are a few exceptions to Macy’s price adjustment policy. But overall, it’s pretty easy to get the best price possible.

Like most other retailers who price match, you only have a short window of time to request a lower price, and Macy’s will only match prices with a select list of competitors. But I’ll guide you through the details and share everything you need to know to get a Macy’s price adjustment without a problem.

1. Macy’s doesn’t price match competitors anymore, but they still match their own prices.

Macy’s stopped price-matching competitors in July of 2022, so unfortunately, you won’t be able to get a Macy’s price match if you find a lower competitor price. However, Macy’s still matches their own in-store and online prices. So, you can request a price adjustment if you find a lower price at Macy’s after your purchase.

How to request a Macy’s price adjustment:

In-Store

Show your Macy’s receipt and proof of the lower price to any Macy’s cashier.

Online

Start an online chat with Macy’s customer service. Their online chat is available from 9 a.m. to midnight (holiday exceptions may apply). You can also email your request to Macy’s at CustomerService@Macys.com.

2. You have 10 days to request a Macy’s price adjustment.

Once you make your purchase, you have 10 days to request a price adjustment from Macy’s. If you find a lower price after the 10-day mark, you won’t be able to get a price adjustment.

For online purchases, your 10-day price adjustment window usually starts the day your order ships.

3. If you used Macy’s coupons or promo codes on your original purchase, you can’t use them with a price adjustment.

Let’s say you buy something from Macy’s and use a coupon for 25% off your purchase. Then a week later, you notice Kohl’s has a lower price for the same exact item. You can request a price adjustment to get the lower Kohl’s price, but you won’t be able to use the 25% off coupon anymore.

So if your original Macy’s total (with coupons and promo codes applied) is less than the new sale price you’re seeing, you’re better off without the price adjustment!

4. You can’t use third-party services to automatically get price adjustments.

Price protection apps like Earny and Capital One Shopping will automatically request price adjustments on your behalf, so you don’t have to check for price drops and submit the requests yourself. The downside? Most retailers exclude these apps from their price match policies — and Macy’s is one of them.

To qualify for a price adjustment, you have to submit the request to Macy’s yourself. So, unfortunately, these third-party apps won’t work in this case.

5. Macy’s furniture and mattress purchases are slightly different.

If you’re looking for a Macy’s price adjustment on your furniture or mattress purchase, you won’t submit your request the normal way. Instead, you can email your price adjustment request to FurnitureAndBedding@Macys.com within 10 days. Here’s how they calculate the 10-day window:

  • White Glove, In-Home & Room of Choice: 10 days from the date of delivery
  • Parcel from Warehouse: 10 days from the date your item is shipped from the warehouse
  • Parcel from Vendor: 10 days from the date your item is shipped from the vendor

Macy’s also asks that you include the following info in your price adjustment request:

  • Sales Check Number
  • Email Address
  • First and Last Name
  • Daytime Phone
  • Shipping Address
  • Items to Adjust
  • Sale Event or Date
  • Promotion Code (optional)
  • Reason for Inquiry: Price or Promotion Adjustment

Keep in mind: Macy’s will only match up to a $100 price difference for furniture and mattress purchases.
