Nike honors military members with a discount of 10%. That’s a pretty standard military discount, but Nike’s comes with some extra perks, like free shipping to APO and FPO addresses and access to the discount either online or in store.
Here are all the details. Be sure to download The Krazy Coupon Lady app today to ensure you’re getting all the best deals at retailers like Nike and beyond.
The Nike military discount is 10% off every seven days.
Nike’s military discount is 10% off your purchase. You can use this discount once every seven days.
To use this discount, you’ll need a unique promo code. You can get the promo code by verifying your military status with Nike’s partner, SheerID. Usually the code will be issued instantaneously, but if you have to verify documents, it could take up to 20 minutes.
This code will be valid for two weeks, and you can only use it once. The next time you want to claim the Nike military discount, you’ll have to request a new one.
You don’t have to be active duty to qualify.
Reservists, veterans, and military retirees also qualify for Nike’s military discount. It’s not just for active-duty service members!
But only active-duty dependents qualify.
Whether you’re a military spouse, child, or other dependent, you’ll only qualify for Nike’s military discount if your service member is active duty.
But if you share household finances with a veteran, you could just have them make the purchase for you. Even though you don’t qualify for Nike’s military discount, they will.
Verify your status with SheerID for Nike’s military discount.
To get the promo code for your Nike military discount, you’ll need to verify your military status with partner SheerID. You’ll need to do this each and every time you request a promo code.
To do so, you’ll need to submit documentation that proves the following:
- Full name
- Branch of service
- Current military affiliation
- Discharge date if you’re not active duty
Once SheerID verifies your identity, they’ll delete your documents for privacy reasons. And if there’s personal data on the forms you submit that they don’t need, you’re allowed to black that information out before submitting.
Get the Nike military discount online or in store.
If you’re shopping online, you’ll need to get that promo code by verifying your identity through SheerID.
But if you’re shopping in store, the process is a lot easier. You’ll just need to bring your valid military ID with you to show at checkout.
The military discount can be used at Converse stores, too.
Converse has been a Nike-owned brand since 2003, so you can use the 10% off military discount when you’re shopping at Converse, too.
But you can’t claim it at Nike Company Stores.
There are two Nike Company Stores — one in Beaverton, Oregon and one in Memphis, Tennessee. Sometimes these are referred to as Nike Employee Stores.
To get in, you either have to be a Nike employee or a contractor who Nike has deemed worthy of issuing a pass. Nike employees do get guest passes to share with friends every year, so you might be able to get in if you cozy up to one of your buddies who works there.
The military discount isn’t applicable at Nike Company Stores. But trust me: that’s just fine. The discounts you can get at the Nike Company Stores can be in excess of 50%. The 10% off for military members pales in comparison.

The max military discount per order is $50.
Each promo code for a military discount is only valid on the first $500 you spend. That means the most the military discount can save you on each purchase is $50.
There are some product exclusions to Nike’s military discount.
Some items are not eligible for the Nike military discount. These items include:
- Items found on Swoosh.com
- Nike by You products
- Certain Launch and SNKRS products
- Apple products
- Gift cards
The only promo code you can stack is free shipping.
In most cases, the promo code you get to redeem your Nike military discount is not stackable. There’s one notable exception: free shipping promo codes.
This is a big deal because normally the military discount won’t apply to shipping costs. So if you were buying some Air Jordans, you’d get 10% off the shoes, but you’d still pay full price for shipping and taxes.
But you can use a free shipping promo code with your military discount promo code, no issue.
TIP: Here’s where you can keep on top of the latest Nike promo codes.
Orders will ship to APO/FPO addresses free without promo code.
Stationed overseas? Or literally in the middle of a sea?
Then you don’t even need to worry about free shipping promo codes! Nike not only delivers to APO and FPO addresses — they’ll ship your order to you for free each and every time.
To get the free shipping, check the “APO/FPO” box when you’re entering your address. If you don’t see this box and your address auto populates, simply click “Edit” to find the APO/FPO option.
Like most shipments to APO/FPO addresses, Nike orders can take a while to make it to you. The company gives a time frame of 30 – 45 days.
There are a few order types that simply cannot be shipped to APO or FPO addresses at all. They include:
- Nike By You items
- Orders placed on the Nike app (shop Nike.com instead)
- Orders placed on the SNKRS app
- Gift cards
Which is better — the Nike student or military discount?
The Nike student discount is identical to the Nike military discount: 10% off your Nike order.
But if you’re claiming that GI bill or have a dependent who might qualify for the student discount, bear in mind that the military discount is more flexible. It can be used online or in store, while the student discount can only be claimed online.
Are there better military discounts on activewear?
Nike’s 10% military discount is pretty standard, and the fact that they ship to APO/FPO addresses at all — nonetheless for free — is a pretty big deal.
But as far as percentages off go, you can get a bigger discount through Lululemon, who offers 15% off for the same cohort of military members and dependents. Lululemon’s military discount also applies to first responders like firefighters, doctors, and EMTs.
TIP: Nike also provides a first responder discount of 10% off, but it’s only available online — not in stores.
That said, when you’re shopping at Nike, you’re usually there because of the brand name. While Lululemon’s discount might be steeper, it’s not going to score you Nike products.
