Extreme Couponing Tip: Accidental Fraudulent Coupon Usage
“What happens if I use a coupon and later find out it was fraudulent?”
- Consider calling your store’s manager, apologizing, and giving him or her a head’s up that you found the coupon to be fraudulent. This way the store can avoid accepting more of the fraudulent coupons in the future.
- For an up-to-date list of counterfeit coupons and how to avoid them, check out the Coupon Information Center website.
- Never knowingly use a counterfeit or photocopied coupon, or a coupon for a product on which it was not intended. The store does not get reimbursed, and you could face heavy fines and imprisonment.
- Stay safe by only printing from legitimate sites like Coupons.com, Smartsource.com, RedPlum.com, and Target.com. Other places to find online coupons include manufacturer websites and Facebook fan pages. For an extensive list of current coupons, check out our Printable Coupon Database.
