You can order Dollar General delivery through the Dollar General app itself, or through third-party services like DoorDash and Uber Eats. Each option comes with its own fees and perks (and rules about whether or not you can use Dollar General coupons), so let's break down which one makes the most sense for your wallet.
Just keep in mind that certain items aren't available for delivery at all — things like tobacco products, alcohol, gift cards, prepaid phones, and greeting cards are all off-limits. And SNAP/EBT isn't currently accepted for Dollar General same-day delivery orders.

You have three ways to get Dollar General delivery, and they're not all equal.
Dollar General currently offers delivery through three different services, and which one you choose can make or break your savings:
1. Dollar General's own same-day delivery is available at more than 17,000 stores as of 2025. This is the option where you can actually use your Dollar General digital coupons and earn DG cash back through the app — which is a big deal if you're serious about saving.
2. DoorDash offers delivery at more than 18,000 Dollar General stores. This service has been around longer but doesn't let you use DG coupons, so your savings potential takes a hit.
3. Uber Eats is the newer partnership, available at more than 17,000 Dollar General stores. But just like DoorDash, you can't use DG coupons with your order.
How to order through the Dollar General app or website (preferred method for couponers):
-
Open the Dollar General app (download for iOS or Android) or visit DollarGeneral.com.
-
Enter your delivery address to see if delivery's available. You'll need to be within five miles of a participating store to qualify.
-
Browse items and add them to your cart.
-
Clip any digital coupons you want to use (they'll automatically apply at checkout).
-
Select your delivery speed (standard same-day or ASAP).
-
Choose your delivery time window.
-
Review fees, adjust your tip if needed, and submit payment.
KCL TIP: Clip the free delivery coupon in the DG app for your first order. This offer expires Dec. 31, 2025.
How to order through DoorDash or Uber Eats:
-
Open the DoorDash app or Uber Eats app (or visit their websites).
-
Search for Dollar General.
-
Browse items and add them to your cart.
-
Add any available promo codes or offers.
-
Choose your delivery time and submit payment.
Dollar General delivery fees are real, but there's a way to minimize the damage.
No matter which delivery option you use for Dollar General delivery, you're looking at fees. There's no way around it — convenience costs money. But the good news is that there's no price markup on individual items for Dollar General delivery. That rule applies whether you order through Dollar General directly or via DoorDash or Uber Eats.
Keep in mind that these fees don't include tips for the driver/shopper, and service fees are calculated as a percentage of the subtotal.
Dollar General Delivery Fees Compared
-
Delivery via DG App: $7 standard delivery fee (plus optional $1 fee for ASAP delivery within 1 hour)
-
DoorDash: $1.99 delivery fee + 15% service fee ($3.49 - $7.49 maximum)
-
Uber Eats: $4.49 delivery fee + 17% service fee ($2 - $9 maximum)
As you can see, the costs can really add up, even when we're talking about shopping at a dollar store. On the surface, DoorDash and Uber Eats look cheaper than Dollar General's $7 delivery fee, but the ability to use coupons is the real differentiating factor.
Here's the coupon situation (and why it matters more than you think).
This is where things get interesting — and where ordering directly through Dollar General really pays off.
If you order through the Dollar General app or website: Yes! You can use Dollar General digital coupons as long as you clip them with the same account you use to place your delivery order. You'll also earn cash back if you clip DG rebates in the app. This is huge because it means you're not losing out on savings just because you're getting delivery.
If you order through DoorDash or Uber Eats: Nope. You can't use Dollar General digital coupons, and your purchase won't be linked to your DG account or profile in any way. That means no rewards, no coupons, no cash back.
You may still see some Dollar General promotions pop up in the DoorDash or Uber Eats apps — like "Buy Any 2, Save $3" or "Buy 3 for $15" — but these might not always match what's available in-store or through the DG app.
So even though Dollar General's delivery fee is higher than the third-party services, you could easily save more than the $2 - $3 difference just by using a couple of digital coupons. That's the trade-off.
Which delivery option should you actually use?
If you're a regular Dollar General shopper who clips coupons and uses the app, ordering directly through Dollar General is probably your best bet. Yes, the $7 delivery fee is higher than what you'd pay with DoorDash or Uber Eats, but you're getting access to all your digital coupons and cash-back offers. That can easily save you more than the difference in delivery fees.
Use our quick math hack to decide.
Here's a quick math hack based on fees alone (before coupons and promos) that'll help you decide if it's worth using DG delivery or a third-party delivery app:
-
If your subtotal is under $15, Uber Eats has the lowest fees
-
If your subtotal is between $15.01 and $32.99, DoorDash has the lowest fees
-
If your subtotal is $33 or more, Dollar General delivery has competitive fees, plus you get to use coupons
But if you have a killer promo code for DoorDash or Uber Eats, then it might be worth ordering through a third-party app instead, especially for a big stock-up order.
I keep all three apps on my phone and compare before I place an order. Sometimes those third-party promos are just too good to pass up, and other times, my DG coupons make the direct route the clear winner. It's all about doing the quick math before you hit checkout.
