The Conrad, an upscale Manhattan hotel, gave Leapers a complimentary night last Leap Year. The reservation had to be for two or more nights, including Feb. 29 and March 1. Rooms started at $334 per night.

8. East Coast Wings + Grill: Get a free meal from East Coast Wings with valid ID.

East Coast Wings+ Grill offered Leaplings a free entree for their birthday. You had to show valid ID for this Leap Day deal.

9. Farmer Boys Food: Send them a direct message, get a free birthday burger.

If you sent a direct message to Farmer Boys Food on Twitter you could get a free cheeseburger (reg. price $4.79) last Leap Year. Once you showed your ID you were set!

10. iFly: Skydive with a friend for free.

Is skydiving on your bucket list? Anyone born on Leap Day could enjoy a free 2-flight package at iFly between Feb. 24 – March 1 (up to $120 in savings).

11. Lay’s: Leave a comment on Lay’s Facebook Leap Day post for a chance to win a free bag of chips.

Last Leap Year, Lay’s announced their Lay’s Leap Year Facebook post on Friday, Feb. 28. All you had to do was leave a comment for your chance to win a free bag of potato chips (a $3 value).

12. Main Event: Get a free Party Fun Sundae with valid ID.

When is the next Leap Year?

The next, after 2024, will be 2028. Leap Day occurs every four years, minus century years that aren’t exactly divisible by 400. That sounds kinda extra, but there's a reason for the math. The purpose of Leap Day is to keep the calendar synchronized with the astronomical year, which is approximately 365.25 days, while our calendar year is 365 days. Adding this extra day helps make sure seasons don’t shift.
