While not as common as full birthday offerings, we found a handful of restaurants and retailers that’ll give you something special halfway to your next birthday. Usually, half-birthdays come and go without much thought — but if you can get some freebies and discounts on your half-birthday, why would you miss out?

• BurgerFi: When you become a V-Fi-P member at BurgerFi you'll get $5 off a $15 order. Your reward will be added to your rewards account on the first day of your half-birthday month. The rewards is valid for 30 days.

• Express: Express Insiders score a half-birthday reward each year. You'll receive $5, $10, or $40 depending on your rewards tier.

• Freebirds World Burrito: If you live near one of the 65 Freebirds World Burrito locations in Texas, you can enjoy one of their burritos on your birthday AND half-birthday. The only catch is you have to join their free Freebirds Rewards.

• J.Crew: J. Crew Passport Rewards members can enjoy a $10 half-birthday reward every year, regardless of your rewards tier.

• Portillo's: Join Portillo's Perks and you can enjoy a free slice of cake on your half-birthday, your actual birthday, and on your sign-up anniversary.

• Publix: Publix offers Club Publix members half off a treat of their choice: a container of Publix, Publix Premium, or GreenWise ice cream or frozen yogurt, or a Publix Bakery bar cake. You'll have two weeks to redeem your half-birthday discount with the Publix app or enter your phone number at checkout in-store.

• RA Sushi Bar & Restaurant: Join the free rewards program, Friends with Benefits, at RA Sushi Bar & Restaurant, and get a $20 RA gift certificate during your birthday and half-birthday months. Plus, you get a complimentary appetizer on your next visit just for signing up.

• Rita's Italian Ice: Sign up for Rita’s Ice rewards (it's free to join), and you’ll get a complimentary small Italian ice on your birthday. If your local Rita’s Ice is a seasonal shop and your birthday falls between October and February, you’ll get a free Italian Ice on your half-birthday. You’ll have seven days to redeem your freebie.
