LG Electronics issued a voluntary recall of four different smart TV models and stands on Jan. 12, 2023.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) statement, the recalled televisions “can become unstable while on the assembled stand, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in injuries or death to children and others.”

The manufacturer received 22 reports of TV stand instability, including 12 reports of the TVs tipping over — but thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this time. Here’s everything you need to know about the LG TV recall.

How many LG Electronics TVs were recalled?

About 52,000 products are part of the recall in the U.S., plus an additional 1,800 that were sold in Canada and about 2,900 that were sold in Mexico.

How do I know if my TV is part of the LG Electronics TV recall?

You can find out your LG Electronics TV’s serial number and model number on the label on the lower right corner on the back of your TV. You can also get your serial number to appear on your TV screen by pressing your LG TV’s original remote control’s mute button three times in rapid succession.

What should I do if my LG TV is part of the recall?

If your LG TV is wall mounted, you don’t need to do anything — the recall applies to only the listed TVs that are in place with their included stands. If your LG TV is on the stand that it came with, take the following steps to remedy the problem:

  1. Immediately detach the TV from its stand, and place the TV in a safe place away from children.
  2. Contact LG Electronics for replacement parts, including screws. You can contact LG by texting “STAND” to 256-888-9977 anytime or by calling 800-243-0000 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET. You can also email 86inchTVstand@lge.com or contact LG through their recall websites about the TV stand or the smart TVs.
  3. LG will provide replacement parts and instructions on how to install and/or repair the stand and properly mount your TV. You can also request a technician to come to your home to repair and install the stand at no cost to you.
