Simply Decadent Danish Puff

1/2 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbls water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup water
1 tsp almond extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 eggs

Frosting

1/2 cup butter
4  cups powdered sugar
1 tsp almond extract
3 Tbls milk
Small package of sliced almonds

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Mix 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of water over mixture and mix again.  Divide the dough in half and pat each half into a strip about 12 x 3 on an ungreased baking sheet.

3. Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a small saucepan with 1 cup of water. When the mixture boils, quickly stir in the almond extract and 1 cup of flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until the mixture forms a ball, about one minute.

4.  Remove from heat and beat eggs in all at once, until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Divide the mixture in half and spread each half evenly over the already prepared strips.

6. Bake 45 to 55 minutes until light brown.

7. While strips are baking make frosting. Mix butter for 1 minute. Add powdered sugar, almond extract and milk until well combined. Frost strips after they have cooled for 20 minutes and top with sliced almonds.
